Steam bugs in Torchlight

I bought torchlight and the following functions seem to be missing or borken:

- Torchlight created a "shortcut" on my Desktop with the steam icon instead of Torchlight's
Fix: I found the Torchlight app in the Steam Content folder and dragged the app on the shortcut's info window to "steal" the icon.

- The Torchlight shortcut icon on the Desktop just crashes Steam 9 out of 10 tries. Maybe more. I don't even remember if it actually ever worked or it's just wishful thinking.

- The overlay feature that Steam offers while playing stops working after a while. I couldn't find a rule when but a few minutes into playing Shift+Tab does nothing.

- With the overlay all Steam notifications disappear as well, I don't get friend logins, achievement notifications, etc.

- After starting Torchlight my desktop switching shortcuts stop working. (I set them to Alt+Number Keys) Seems like Torchlight steals the keystrokes.

My machine: 2009 iMac, C2D 2.8 Ghz, Radeon HD 2600 Pro, 4GB RAM

I will agree on all counts except the shortcuts since I don't use them (they seem to just load Steam and not the game itself so why go through the nonsense). I'm really pissed about the overlay feature not working!! Steam will record that I played the game and for how long, but because the overlay isn't working I miss out on notifications and achievements! I've had to play three times in order to get the Brink achievement >.< I do notice that it tends to stop working when using Town Portal scrolls the most, and every now and then when changing levels in the mines. I've repeatedly done this several times and each and every time I use a portal back in to town the overlay refuses to work. It also stops working whenever it feels like it >.< You'd think a noticeable bug like this would have been caught especially how easy it is to reproduce/notice. It's very game debilitating!

I've had the same problems. I noticed something interesting about the overlay not working. If I get an achievement, it shows up in Steam under "Most Recent", but it never registers as me getting the achievement. The icon is still B&W and it's not included in the list of earned achievements. Then, when I restart Steam it goes back to saying I never earned it.

I just tested Portal and the overlay is not working there either.

Occasionally when you Shift+Tab, then shift+tab back into the game, the character is unable to move. This can be fixed by shift-tabbing out and back in one more time.
