I don't know if it's just me, probably not, but I end up spinning out of control often. It's difficult to be prepared for what actions another car might take around you, and the slightest clip sometimes spells disaster for me. i mostly blame my inexperience with the game. But it appears AI can make mistakes too. I have done perfect merges into a better racing position, only to have an AI behind me make a stupid move, causing a domino effect.

What I was wondering is if it is possible to "quickly" regain control after you spin out.
I have tried this and end up just spinning even more, even if not full gas.

I'm trying my best to train myself to race realisticically, as to not make stupid moves or dumb ones that could prove fatal in real life.

I use a gamepad as it is way easier than the keyboard. Its a PC version of an XBOX controller, and I use R2 to accelorate. The more I push in, the more gas it gives, which is cool. L2 is for brake and reverse.

happens to me on the ps3 version, i dont ragequit but it annoys me :/

i lost my disc for the pc version but i remember it used to happen on that as well, i dont know a good way to recover, going off the track is probably the worst place to end up if you get spun out :(

codemasters dont seem to support their games for very long either.

Sometimes letting go of the accelerator for a moment can give the wheels a better chance to regain grip, before trying to power out of a slide/spin.

Like Zikco said, the technique is to let go off the gas and try to keep the wheels pointed in the direction you're moving (don't let them go sideways), then proceed to make very gentle movements and slowly give it gas again, until your grip is restored.

Also when you're on 1st or 2nd gear you should never floor the gas pedal too fast, or your revs will skyrocket, you'll lose grip and spin.

Should also avoid braking while you're turning. You're supposed to slow down, take the turn and start accelerating again at the apex (the inside part of the turn). ;)

Feather the throttle, very light taps until you get the grip back, if you're on the grass/sand try not to turn the wheels at all as with the higher revs in 1st or 2nd gear you'll spin the car like crazy.

Release the gas until you are slightly faster than the opponents, break if needed and be verry light with the hand break. Adjust breaking time with full steering if you can't cut the corner with less. Follow the flow of opponents and climb slowly to first place. Remember where you crashed and take more time if needed. Taking a curve slowly is sometimes faster than sliding with full power.

Xbox or 360 controller, also it really depends on the car you are using. Like renegade said you gotta feather and steer just enough to keep you straight or a slight cut back on to the track, you push too much you are gonna spin even with the aids on. Rule #1 if you are off track NEVER use the brake, just lift off the accelerator...

To add to what someone else mentioned, after spinning out, I'll take my foot off the accelerator for a split seconds until the car is no longer tilting... both wheels have to be evenly steady before gassing.

You do know this is an arcade game, right?
You can't "race realisticically" on GRID. You can however have a lot of fun.
Try driving in real life as you do in GRID and... you won't do it a second time...
