So I just finished the game and thought it generally looked terrible because of the massive overuse of depth of field which meant that I couldn't see more than a few meters ahead of me clearly, but I just found the advanced dof setting under dx11, switched it off, and the game looks much better! I can actually make out buildings etc. Really annoyed I only discovered this on the last chapter, but I'm considering giving it a replay on hard and actually enjoy the graphics.

Improved performance on my machine too.

Disabling Tesselation also improves performance.

yeah but if u turn off tesselation and turn of depth of field then ur not using of the directx11 features so it will improve performance obviously!!

I founded them set to 1 in the cfg files, and I was running the game in DX9 mode WTF.

Advanced DOF is kinda broken and confusing. The confusing part is you wont really see any advanced DOF if you are running "Very High" settings. Put your settings to "High" then turn on Advanced DOF, see your game look even better (if you like Depth of Field blur effect) and perform better.

Depth of field is a bad concept anyway for a game with so much sniping. (assuming you don't stealth, you'll have to clear a few long hallways.)
