I sent this to the support team as well but no response yet, so I thought I would post here too.

When I found out steam was coming to mac I created a new steam account (nomapple) because I couldn't remember any of my old details. Then I realised that I could find my lost account because I knew the email account I had registered with was the one I still use today.

I have games on both my old and my new account, and I was wondering whether I could merge the 2 accounts as they are both mine, rather than having an annoying split account.

On my new one, I have Portal and Toki Tori, and on my old one (spike809) I have HL2, Lost Coast, HL DM, and Counter Strike Source. As these are all valve games I am assuming that they will make their way over to mac at some point in the hopefully not too distant future.

You can't merge accounts.

but then I think you would have to pay for them again? Like buying someone a present, hence "gift"

Really, the only game you lost is Toki Toki. You can redownload Portal for free, so, just pay the $10 or whatever for another copy of Toki Toki.

since portal is free at the moment, your only game is toki tori on the new account. go to th old account, install portal for free. you can play toki tori on your new account until you´re sick of it, or you can buy it again and put it on the old account with most of your other games.

either way, i say go with the old account. your new account will only have one game that you don´t have on the old one.

Ok thanks for the advice. But won't I lose all my save data if I move to my old account, as I have put 2 hours in to portal and 2 in to toki tori on my new account.

EDIT: I got my answer, they can't merge the accounts. I will check my bank balance and probably just buy toki tori again as it was only £3.49, but I need to save all the money I can get for a festival in the summer. I guess my "old account" will now become my current account.

Here is an idea. If you know someone (a friend) who can pay you the price for Toki Tori, you can give them your steam account. Not sure if it's against EULA. But I don't see anything wrong with that. Just remember to remove/replace all personal information from within steam.

The only problem I see (not sure here either) is if your friend gets VAC Banned, it might show up in your other account profile. (Hence the reason I say a friend, someone you know and trust)

Don't worry. I have sorted it now. I just bought toki tori again for my old, now current, account as I had more than enough for the festival :D (I just need to get up to where I was on portal/toki tori now.

Here is another thought. For your saved games. Can't you just copy them over?!

In the pc, i know the folder tree has a separate folder for each user.
X:\.......\steam\steamapps\{username1}\portal\port al\SAVE
If you copy those over to
X:\.......\steam\steamapps\{username2}\portal\port al\SAVE

Would that work? I'm not sure about Toki Tori though.

I have DeuxEx 1&2 through steam, and the game saves into your "My Documents" folder.

If Toki Tori is the same thing, then both accounts might use the same save folders.
If you're talking about copying over the save games from PC to Mac, then i dunno.

Don't worry. As they are both puzzle games they are really easy to catch up with once you have done the levels before. Chamber 16 was a ♥♥♥♥♥ though

Savegames can be simply copied from the directorys.
They're saved inside the Steamapps/Your-Account/Portal/SAVE
as I remember.
