I was wondering if I bought the complete pack now, would I be able to download the games as they come out for the mac? I'm pretty sure it's possible, but I don't want to bet $100 dollars on it. Also, any ideas on when the entire complete pack will come out. And one final question, if I buy the complete pack now and Portal 2 comes out, will I be able to download Portal 2 for free or buy it separately? If I would have to buy it separately I'd be better off waiting for Portal 2 to come out.

This is pure speculation

Apparntly Valve are only porting the OB engine over to Mac OS, this is the reason why CS:S is getting an OB Engine upgrade at the moment.

This means that games which run on the old Source Engine (HL2, HL2 Epi 1, HL2DM, HL Source, HLDM Source) will not get a mac release making the Valve Complete Collection pretty useless for mac owners.

As i said at the start of my post, this is just hearsay and has not been confirmed by Valve.

What i can say for defo is that if you where to buy the Complete COlection now you would have to rebuy Portal 2 when it comes out.

The Confirmation from Valve:

Valve announced today it will bring Steam, Valve's gaming service, and Source, Valve's gaming engine, to the Mac.

Steam and Valve's library of games including Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, Portal, and the Half-Life series will be available in April.

Also it has been mentioned that Half Life 2, HL2DM and HL2:E1 would eventually receive an update which will include achievements. If this update does/will exsist it would probably port the games to the OB engine.

If you buy the pack now, you'll have to purchase portal 2 separately. Anyone who bought the complete pack prior to episode 1/2 had to purchase those games separately. Purchasing a current pack does not give you a free ticket to any upcoming games released by Valve. It just doesn't make any business sense to do so.

Plus, this doesn't mean that the price won't get adjusted when Portal 2 is released. It might stay the same it might not you never know. Usually other older games will get a pricing dip or there will be a pre-order special or release date special pricing.

Currently you save about $120 by getting the valve complete pack, compared to when you purchase the games separately. I've never seen the full pack going north of $99, but that doesn't mean it'll never happen.

Also, not sure if newly released games are immediately available in the complete packs, never really checked on that.
