View Full Version : Mouse WAY too fast in fallout 3 menus

Yes, I've disabled Mouse Accelleration in Fallout.ini That helped, but it's still obscenely fast in menus and VATS, to the point of unplayability.
I have a high-precision mouse, so that may have something to do with it. If I decrease the DPI on my mouse, it moves okay in menus, but sluggish in-game. Is there any way to fix this? Like some mouse DE-Celleration in menus? Because it's borderline unplayable when my mouse moves fine when walking around, but whips around like a rocket in Menus/VATS...

I've had to improvise. I think it's due to my really high DPI mouse and Bethesda being terrible at optimization.
Basically, I had to cut back on the DPI a ton...around 1,000 compared to my usual 3,800 or so, which makes the mouse CRAWL in everything else. This makes it bearable in the menus. To compensate, I had to crank the Mouse Sensitivity in Fallout 3's settings. Doesn't effect menus, but it makes the horribly slow speed not cripple you in-game.
There's no excuse for this, really...
If anyone knows a better solution, I'm all ears.

Open 'My Documents\My Games\Fallout 3\Fallout.ini' and find the [Controls] section.
There you should find most of those settings:
fForegroundMouseAccelBase=0
fForegroundMouseAccelTop=0
fForegroundMouseBase=1.2
fForegroundMouseMult=0
The values listed here are mine. They work well for me. The defaults are higher.
One line may be missing in your own Fallout.ini (can't remember which). Add it yourself and all should be well.
Have Fun! :D

The acceleration can also be fixed by installing the Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch (which I really recommend downloading regardless of cursor issues).

Thanks Zikco, none of those lines were in my .ini but adding them fixed the problem.
