I don't have a fix but i'm in the same boat as you....the game was working fine now the screen goes black and that's it. I've tried different vid card drivers and a reinstall too but no go.

Deleted all files in the games file, not from steam but from user/documents/games/ section, then poof, launched no problem. Must have been a corrupt file.

It's something with the Profiles folder under user\document\MY GAMES\CRYSIS\Profiles
I had this one long ago.

I deleted the profiles, and apparently it worked, but now I can't load my previous game. Is there any way for me to recover it? I was at the last boss.

The profiles folder is separate from the Saved Games folder & should not have affected your previous game.
If that is what you are referring to.

Indeed, I do have all the save files, but I can't access them. Even if I create another profile, the game crashes again. And I can't access it through the default profile either.

Just delete the entire profile folder.

Did not work for me. Absolutely none of the offered solutions makes any difference. It just crashes within minutes of gameplay.

Stop your real time shields before trying to load the game (It worked for me I have Avast running on Win 7 64). Then Exclude Steam from the Real Time Scan screens and you wont have to turn off your shields to run the game
that was the only thing that Worked - must say that I have the patch installed on my computer as well. so it is the patched version of the game.
