patches improve performance? yes or no

The demo runs like crap, even on low. Near 26 fps. I know it's my crappy system, but do the latest patches also improve performance?

AMD Athlon x2 5200+
4 gig ram
9800 GTX+

On medium i get 25 fps so doesn't make much difference with low.

But do the patches improve performance?

Yeah the latest patches improve performance significantly.
