I hope so too. I'll bring chips if you'll bring drinks, and we can camp outside the virtual store? =P
At least it's weekly and not once a MONTH. I'll give them credit for that at least.

Give them credit for actually giving you steam for mac in the first place. Cry babies.

I bet you'd whine if Nintendo released a new platform, brought in one Mario game, then filled the rest of the game library with 3rd party titles. Same concept.

I really don't think it is the same concept. Plus they probably only would have one Mario game and the rest third party, on launch wasn't there only Twilight Princess?

The Super Nintendo launched in Japan with 2 Nintendo games, and launched in the US with 3 Nintendo games and 2 3rd party games. Fairly comparable in terms of 1st party games, but Valve blows the 3rd party out of the water with the current selection.
Valve is working on it. It won't happen overnight, but it will happen.

that isn't a comparable situation at all. these games are being ported over from PC, not being created entirely from scratch.

haha, that's totally true. With the 64, Cube and the Wii, they gave you maybe 1 to 2 nintendo games and the rest were 3rd party. If you look at all the nintendo games on each console, you would find no more than 15-20 original titles, not counting the co-working games like Rare and such...
Hey, Valve gave us Portal for FREE!!!!! That's a good start don't you think?
They could have charged an arm and a leg for it. Look at some of the retail Mac games. You can get the PC version for $10, while the Mac is still amazingly $50. But no, Valve decided to give it out for FREE (along with PC!). So yeah, beat that Wii-Sports NINTENDO!

You call it a start, I call it bribery for not giving us what they implied we would would receive at launch: The entire Valve library.
Let me refresh your memory, from the original press release: Steam and Valve's library of games including Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, Portal, and the Half-Life series will be available in April. At this rate will have all that in 6 months.

That's hardly the entire Valve library. So what if they promised that stuff? You got some nice indie games to enjoy, and Portal for free. Can you QQ more you little child? Be happy that they released this service at all, and who cares if its released all in 6 months? They are doing their best.

What has happened actually makes a lot of sense.
Valve release portal free as a way to get pretty much the entire Mac community testing out the new OSX source engine. Valve also says that every Wednesday something new will come out.
The Mac community tries everything out during this week and a while bunch of bugs and errors come back in
Valve tries to fix these
The next Wednesday comes and there's still a few bugs happening. rather than release more games on an engine that still has some bugs, creating more bugs and errors, valve decides to hold TF2, CS:S, and L4D back so that don't have even more errors to fix
A short while later valve release the above mention titles with a much better engine resulting in less errors and unhappy mac users complaining that something broke.

This man talks sense.
I for one would rather stick to having CS on Crossover for now, rather than have my spangly new Steam for Mac full of half baked buggy versions that ruin the steam experience for me and put me off.
It is quite amazing how QQ some peole are here, its even worse ont he steam facebook page. 190 comments last time I looked slating Valve and turning into a Mac vs PC trollfest.
We coped without steam on mac for 7 years, whats another couple of weeks?

the thing is, there are a lot of people who don't have crossover/windows + boot camp. which means we're stuck with what is released.
there was no problem waiting 7 years, but that was because we didn't KNOW it was coming. when valve says "a ton of our games will be available in april" it sucks. and at this rate.. it's going to be more than a couple of weeks. i remember somebody making a joke in the Mac OS X Discussion Thread about how we'll get TF2 in december.. that joke is getting less funny every day.

Any predictions on the next Source game for Mac? I think it'll be a multiplayer one: Team Fortress 2, Counter-strike:Source, maybe even Left 4 Dead. I'd like to see Half-life: Source and Half-life 2 as well.
In case you guys didn't know, Valve made a port of the original Half-life to Mac around the year 2000 but didn't release it for two reasons. One, you couldn't play online with PC users. Two, mods would not work.
Before crying they are slow and don't release game YOU want ...
Try to do what they do faster than Gabe and his team!
They take their time to help you! They try to fix the most bug as possible to be playable.

I'm not mad it's taking so long, I'm mad that they made promises they couldn't keep (and probably had no intention of keeping). Basically they said "We are going to have all these games in April, nope now it's mid May, and it's not going to be all at once either, will give you Portal now and a new game every week, sometimes not even that. But hey Portal is free for two weeks, that makes up for it right?"

Dude, Hexxeh already did.
And personally, I'm just mad that they won't open the beta up. I missed getting into the beta because I didn't have access to my Windows computer with Steam, so now I don't get to play TF2 on the Mac even though it works fine? That's annoying.
