Hello everyone

I've browsed and searched through the lengthy threads describing the various CIV4 issues experienced by people in here in an attempt to find out whether the Mac-version of CIV4 available on Steam is still the old v1.74 release developed by Aspyr that is painfully slow compared to the PC version and has occasional graphics corruption problems.

I couldn't find information to confirm this finally although I have of course noted the multiple references to "the Aspyr version" in the threads so I'm assuming this to be the case but would just like to have it finally confirmed with any of you guys having actually bought the Steam version if possible?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, all the Mac games are the Aspyr ports. I'm not sure what version number the original is, but Beyond the Sword is v3.19 if you're interested (since it contains everything the original has, I just play this).

It is the Aspyr port, but its done without Aspyr's consent because of a loophole about digital distribution rights in their contract with 2k Games. I don't know how much support one could expect.

Wait... if this is true then it's not going to end up nice... Colonization does not even start for most people (me included).

Have you tried redownloading the game? I was having trouble loading it and removing everything about it and redownloading it fixed it for me. I can play all the Civ4 games now.

Are you running OS X 10.5.8? It seems the problem is mainly on that version of Leopard.

I've tried downloading Colonization again myself, but the game still crashes.
