I'm playing at 1920x1200 resolution, the HUD is very small and subtitles are difficult to read. I saw there is an option in display settings to increase the size of the HUD but it seems to have no effect...any ideas?

Unfortunately I don't think there's a fix. I guess I should be glad I'm playing at 1680x1050 and not something like 2600x1500 xD

I'm playing 1680x1050 and the text is too small to read. Pls, fix it.

Here is the crux of the matter. We the fans want an old game. As it is, it will play on newer OS's but is older and not optimized for sound/resolutions, etc. Heck it's not even optimized for 1280X1024. In fact no different than if we had bought original retail off of Amazon or Ebay. We want it though. We can get it as is easily and hope for the best or you can dream/hope/pray that a company will invest the time, man hours, and money in redoing the game to current expectations just to release it for chump change. We got these FEAR games for $3.33/game, a fantastic deal, chump change. I spent $18 a piece for both HD releases of Serious Sam Encounters which are actual remakes. Do the math. CroTeam are an exceptional company and the exception to the rule. Most all other companies aren't and will go the cheapest route. They simply provided the digital equivalent of original retail with all patches included. There was no real false advertising only peoples false expectations. Steam is a store. Just the delivery boy.

I also run FEAR at 1920x1200, and do not know what HUD text scaling does. It also has no effect for me. Though I can read the HUD and subtitles clearly, a little bigger would be nice, without the HUD getting blurry.

What he said. Common sense at work.
I'm pretty annoyed too at the fact that the Hud and Text don't scale well to higher resolutions and also the fact that Extraction point doesn't even have a widescreen resolution. But still, its 3 Ok games for under 9 Euros. So It's Ok.

I had the same problem. Initially I set it to large and it had no affect. Then I switched it back to small, and it remained the same.
After messing around with different resolutions and running a few performance tests in an effort to fix the Logitech issue, I decided to switch it back to large again and, viola, it has now scaled up.
Don't ask my how or why, I don't know. I can only speculate that it has something to do with the fact that FEAR is not optimized for wide screen aspect ratios.

Wait, so what resolution are you playing at where it's scaled up?

I'm playing on a 32 inch 720p HDTV so it's only 1360 x 768. Not super high rez I know, but the text is much bigger going from small to large.

Try changing it to large, then click OK. Then change it back, hit OK. Then repeat to large one more time. I did this earlier today and it works for me.

I'm guessing that the higher the rez you use, the less affect you will see. The game simply wasn't made with super high rez in mind.
