How does last breath work? I've chosen this skill numerous times but I've never once noticed it activate. Maybe I'm half blind, concentrating too hard on killing/surviving or just plain misunderstanding the mechanics of it.

I'm assuming this perk is meant to kick in right before you run out of health (half a cm on the health bar or so). I'm also assuming that if you manage to survive and regenerate your health again, that Last Breath will activate again when your health hits the same low point again. Repeating every time you hit that low health amount.

Am I wrong? when should I be looking out for last breath to activate? I feel like an idiot as I've played a fair bit of this game recently and still never once seen Last Breath in action.

When you suffer an attack that WOULD'VE killed you, you are instead left on a touch of health and given slo-mo. It's a one use thing as far as I can tell, so picking up some health and then getting hurt again will kill you.

You do get an achievement for activating it then getting back to full HP though.

Ok so it basically works in combination of death clock, probably why I didn't notice it then.
Thanks for that clarification. :D

It would have been pretty cool if it worked the way I originally thought though... activating it at like 5-10% health. And maybe an upgrade perk that makes it re-usable after you reach say 50% health again (Or even a add upgrades, starts at needing 100% recovery, goes down to 75% at level 2 and 50% at lvl 3).

Pretty sure it was mentioned in another topic that after using last breath and then getting your health back up to 100% allows for last breath to be used again. Not sure how true that is.

That's another thing on that, and what I think is a serious flaw behind this current last breath mechanic. Death clock... if you take that then it would take away your chance of surviving then healing up from the last breath perk. Making it still seem just as unappealing to choose Death clock as before the update, and much more so if what you said above is true.

(though it does suit it's name better being your last few breaths while death clock ticks away)

Pretty sure that Death Clock only activates if Last Breath can not.

That leads to my other issue then >.< am I blind? because I never notice bullet time triggering without me picking up a bullet time power-up or killing a boss with man of the moment. I don't remember being hit on low health and getting slow mo, ever.

The fact that even you with probably the most playtime, seem to be guessing/assuming at the mechanics yourself (or at least that's how it sounds) and me being too blind to even notice the perk at all, maybe suggests that a better indication of exactly when last breath activates should be implemented. Maybe we could get a big warning on the screen when last breath activates? And possibly better clarification in the perk's description on whether it recharges (if it does) and when.

Yeah, the Last Breath bullet time is a little different from the pickup. There's no timer, no indication, nothing, and it even seems like it doesn't slow down time as much as the pickup. I agree, I would like more of a visual indication of when it activates and when it's recharged.

A loud, gasping (last breath!) sound effect might fit the bill.

Or have basically all sounds die down, so you can only 'just' faintly hear gunshots and explosions. Then all you can hear is your heart beating loudly as you panic to survive.
