I recorded with FRAPS with the game at a resolution of 1024x768 and graphix and physix maxed out to keep FPS at around 60+ and well then I edit and rendered it all together with Sony Vegas to be 1920x1080 to keep all the quality...

Nothing has been stretched in any way at all...just black bars on the side now...

P.S. anyone that complains about how I record my vids...please go ahead and record yours at 1920x1080 max quality and physix ingame with FRAPS and try keeping your FPS above 57+ and then upload it to youtube without loosing practically any quality...

If you cant...then stfu...you obviously dont know how to record a game properly...

P.P.S. Notice in my vids...you may see things I have posted about else where whether it be a topic I made here or 1 I responded to...or even a comment I made to a vid on youtube...for example...tell me...do any of the models in any of my vids stretch at any moment? Hmmm....NO!

Unless you put black borders around it to keep the source frame centered you scaled up somewhere.

Not when you fullscreen it. It goes 5:4 or 4:3 aspect ratio. And youtube will often append those black borders to videos that don't fill the frame at upload time so no, you can't just tell.

For zero scaling to happen between 1024x768 and 1920x1080 you would have black bars around every side. 1024x768 fits inside 1920x1080.

I hope you mean 'physics' because FEAR doesn't support nVidia Physx, I believe.

You say you don't, but converting 1024x768 to 1920x1080 is... upscaling. There is little reason to do it, because it doesn't make the picture look better in itself. Though it may dodge the poor (inbuild) upscaling a video player provides.

If you want the final product to be HD and 16:9, why not record in 1280x720? It's Youtube's most commonly seen HD resolution, no converting needed and roughly same stress level on your PC as 1024x768.

You are not posting 1920x1080 quality either. You're posting 1024x768 quality in 1920x1080 resolution which frankly, is a criminal waste of HD space and bandwidth.

You are just wasting space if you are recording @ 60fps since youtube limits the framerate to 30fps, and as Catlin said you are just stretching your video to 1080p.

All the videos I put up of messing about in FEAR were at 1680x1050@60fps. Overkill I know xD. Considering the HUD scaling issue, I should of set my resolution to 720p first. Ah well, will do in the future.

Why would you watch a Half-Life 1/2 or even Fallout 3 or any other game on youtube?

Because there are multiple reasons...either your machine sux and you cant run the game and wanna see what it is like...or your broke or too lazy to get the money to buy teh game...or sumone may have done sumthing cool ingame and wanted to show it to the world...etc...

Yea I own Doom 3 on steam myself...decent game...but not 1 of my top fave...btw your vid tbh isnt horrendous quality...you can make out stuff pretty well...but I make mine like they are because I just dont like to make others suffer from the lack of quality...
