Retail Kane's Wrath, not compatible with Steam C&C 3: Tiberium Wars

Hello all,

I've bought C&C3: Tiberium wars via Steam, and decided to get the Kane's Wrath expansion pack via a different source, PC-DVD format. Now the issue arises in the fact that the message of

"You must have Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars already installed to play Kane's Wrath"

So, after some research on the internet, it seems that this problem isn't as clear cut fixed as thought. Anyway, after uninstalled KW and reinstalling in the Steam/Common directory, the game still refuses to start, producing the same error message as already stated above. I'm going to try and find some more clarification on the matter, but have any of you veteran Steam forumer's encountered this issue before, and more importantly sourced a viable solution?

I'm pretty sure you need the Steam version of Kane's Wrath to play with the Steam version of C&C 3.

its just how steam works..

if u check the expansion out it says

: Requires the Steam version of Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars in order to play.

try to delete folder RETAILEXE and after VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE.....worked for me

And this is why I am not buying Kane's Wrath. It won't work with my retail version of C&C3, so I have to buy the Steam's version? What a load of crap.

Unfortunately YES, a friend had to do the same thing when he saw the sale on Steam. He has TW and KW but couldn't get TW to work ( disc was scratched) so he ended up rebuying both again. Though buying it again on Steam is probably a good thing since other places online are asking upwards of $74.99. You can't buy Kane's Wrath stand alone anymore. Also Target, Best Buy and Walmart are not carry them in store and don't have any to buy online except for Walmart.

if you have the cd-key..try to activate via steam(ADD A GAME...ACTIVATE A PRODUCT ON STEAM) and download

If you're suggesting he register his CD key for Kane's Wrath in Steam, that isn't possible.
