Just wondering: was Operation Arrowhead going to get released on Steam? It supposedly drops in the next month, I just haven't heard anything about it in regards to release on Steam.

Responses much appreciated.

Will the ArmA II: Combined Operations (http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=77893) pack be released on steam as well? Or is that a gamestop exclusive. :(

If it does become available on steam, then could you gift ARMA II to a friend if you already own it on steam? You could do that with The Orange Box games. :D

just saw that gamestop.com has arma II OA listed for 39.99 :(

It's kinda almost more worth it to buy the combined operations even if you do own the original. THat way you spend $10 to get an extra copy of arma 2 and you can give the original to your buddy or something.

Amazon.com has it for 39.99 with free shipping, I'm still old school and enjoy having a printed manual.

Yeah same, was at there official website and noticed was per-order but not here (steam) yet. I haven't brought a DVD game in over 2 years so won't be buying this unless on Steam or D2D. Hope to see it here soon as ArmA is one of my most favorite sires.

it will be on STEAM for sure, pre-preoder most likely too and pre-load maybe too

it also all depends on workload and how all goes (amount of problems)

I am not buying this until I see decent sp mission status from early buyers. Hopefully they don`t cheap out on the sp campaigne like they did with ARMA 2.

Really not that far away now, still hoping for a Steam version purchaseable BEFORE the release date though.

Most likely's and maybe's arent reassuring considering theres only 2 weeks left upon release, coupled with the assurances we received regarding a working steam arma2 1.05patch that took months to come out with many headaches for steam users in the mean time. There's no mention of the title in the "comming soon" section in steam either.

We can support you equally enough with steam opposed to Spocket (this is the steam forums after all) - the real question is "do you want more players to populate and support your game?". I hope so, as I would like to get into the action straight away before the servers turn into a ghost town.

working 1.05 patch ?

there were no reassurance nor ETA for 1.05
when patch was done it was done and worked flat out with any distribution ...

same goes with the STEAM release, it will be there when it's ready ...

Yeah I rather hear that then buying a pre-release that gets postponed on the day it should be released. I had that with a few other games and that sucks.

Buy it on sprocket instead if you want guaranteed working coppies with a pre-load on the 27th

http://www.sprocketidea.com/joomla/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage-honza.tpl&product_id=32&category_id=2&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2&banner_tag=armaholic&vmcchk=1&Itemid=2

$35.12 USD there, plus you get a free printed map of Takistan.

From what I understand and I may be wrong but if you have Arma 2 it will install in same folder and you can use same .exe to launch program. If that is the case and I order expansion through sprocket using that key when installing, can I install it to the steam directory and launch the programs without any issues?

IIRC, I was told that all versions of ArmA 2 vanilla will work with Sprocket OA. I don't think they install to the same directories, I think it more already has the content of arma 2 or might point itself to where arma2 is on your HDD and use the files from there.

We won't know how it works till it's out, but sprocket OA should work with all versions of ArmA 2 (if it's the same region)

I am still waiting for 1.05 for steam to be released. You really need to do it. I can't use steam backup or anything else due to the method you have done here.

I want to know if you plan to actually release 1.05, and if you plan to use steam releases for patches for arrowhead so I can decide if I want to buy the game.

I bought the game from steam, due to steams auto update feature. A feature that is promised, and was not delivered due to Bohemia.

So, 1.06 will be on steam or am I misunderstanding?

My main issue, is with what you have now, we can not use steam backup. So on a reinstall, I have to download the game again, when I should be able to steam backup and not have to worry about it.

Dwarden

to backup the game, all you need is backup the files in
\Steam\SteamApps\common\ARMA 2\

Unfortunately, this is not the same as a steam backup.

Yes, like Dwarden has said many times before, 1.06 will be on steam.

Just FYI btw, even if you don't want to use it, you can copy your entire 1.04 Arma2 folder from the steam directory and put it somewhere. You can then just move it back later when you need to, and. Click install on arma within steam. It will say 'downloading', and be done within a minute or so.

1.06 is being skipped from what I've read, then again I've been using Beta patches. Is there a difference between the last beta and 1.07?

Also...

Pre-Purchase Arma II: Operation Arrowhead (http://store.steampowered.com/app/33930/) on Steam store.

Available: 30 June 2010

This game will unlock in approximately 3 days and 8 hours

With Steam doing this summer game sale till the 4th it would probably be a good idea for BIS to slap a one day 10% discount on it so that it shows up on the sale page.

Steam is really spoiling us gamers with some great deals right now.

I'm not 100% sure, but given the price that it's selling for everywhere else, I think $39.99 USD is a safe bet.

This is a digital service so I think they'll be able to go cheaper?

Steam usually are. Also, UK.

I bought it from Sprocket today and it was $35US. It said $42US when you look at the product page, but when you add it to your cart and pay for it, it shows $35US.

that's because the VAT was substracted (depends on region)

Yeah, that's because you don't have to pay VAT tax since you are not in the EU.
