Well, after a few days of trying everything I didn't understand how other with core i7 processors were running the game so smoothly and it was almost unplayable for me...
I'm running 3 monitor system for eyefinity, Although I tried to play the game in eyefinity it didn't work correctly, the HUD was streched out. But even though I was running the game on my primary display only it was really stuttery...
My fix? Disabling the other 2 displays..... I went to my display settings section and disabled all but my primary display...
Stutter is gone.
Hope it helps others

A lot of other people experiencing the stuttering or lag don't really use multiple displays. :/

Thanks Andrew!!!!
I was having minor stuttering also on a Radeon 5870. I am running dual LCDs. I disabled the 2nd LCD and the stutter was gone.
Nice tip.

Glad it helped
I'm also running an hd5870 btw
Hmm, i'm running dual displays on my 5870 and can't say I've noticed any studdering. At least I'll know the fix should it occur.

From what I'm reading, this game doesn't like multiple GPU's (for example SLI/crossfire or just tow or more in general)... Some users have found taking all but the 1 gfx card out has improved performance, you could try that if your rig is similar.
Good tip andrew, I also hadn't noticed this but good in case it occurs

Disabling secondary displays is a good rule of thumb for when I'm playing games on my computer. Portal and HL2 ran lots smoother when I disabled my second screen on my Mac, the same happened on Windows with Blur, Burnout and TF2.

I run 2 monitors and Blur runs on main monitor with no stuttering.
I have Vista 64bit and a 4870 video card.
