I just started playing Fear a few hrs ago, did my settings, after about 1/2 hr movement becomes very choppy and firing has about a 1 second lag. I have never had this problem before with any other games , it just started today with fear. It seems like power is leaking somewhere is that possible? I am not the brightest bulb in the pack when it comes to this kinda stuff. My comp. exceeds the specs required.
2 Quad 2.50GHz
Ram 4.0 GB
Vista 64 bit
Vid card GeForce 9400 GT,
On FEAR settings I set the screen res at 1600x1200x32
any suggestions ??

I'm assuming you are using a Logitech mouse/keyboard.
Head to this post (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1282881) and read the first part of the sticky. This should solve your problem.

yes I am using a MX Rev. & g15 . If I remove all HID-compliant devices and I want to play an other game do I have to reinstall thoes HID-compliant devices? To reinstall don't I just restart and those HID-compliant devices will reinstall themselves????

Disabling the HID-compliant devices just restricts your ability to use setpoint, it doesn't restrict your ability to use your equipment. EG, I have a G500 mouse and have my middle thumb button assigned to a keystroke of F13 (Apple Aluminium Keyboard, circa 2007) and it works perfectly fine when HID-compliant devices are disabled.

I am using a Logitech Illuminated keyboard, yet Device Manager doesn't give me an option to disable it. What am I supposed to do in that case?
My mouse (Roccat Kone) is also listed as a HID-compliant device even though it isn't a Logitech one, but when I disable that I am unable to use it at all.
Any ideas?

Check this link (http://archive.atomicmpc.com.au/forums.asp?s=3&c=12&t=13307). It will explain to you how to find your Logitech HID info.
Your hardware will not be listed by name, but by a certain ID, hence Hardware ID. The link that I provided will at least guide you how to work around the G series hardware.
Don't be afraid to ask anymore questions, just make sure you did your absolute best in finding out what you can do ;) Oh btw, in case you ever get stuck, let us know what you got :)
EDIT -
BTW, after I disabled the HIDs for my G5 mouse, I have not experienced any problems to date. You should be safe to disable them without any major repercussions as MenaceInc. was stating.

After uninstalling my HID-compliant devices per a Steam guru my Fear 1 runs so much Better But every time it does a check point save the screen just freezes and I have to crt alt del. Any ideas why this is, the check point saved just fine before uninstalling HID. When I go to the load screen Quick save, check point, auto save & save game comes up ½ the time as a black screen, other wise works ok

Thanks for the link to the faq. What an utter pain in the ♥♥♥. I'm encountering the delayed slow down too. Turning off the HID-compliant devices every time I play FEAR disables my LCD screen in my G15. If only Monolith/WB would fix this annoying issue, what with the renewed revenue this game is generating via steam.
Too bad a future patch is just a pipe dream. Hopefully a community made one will show up one day?

Not sure if this will work for you but my left/right scroll and middle thumb buttons on my G500 don't work after I disable HID-compliant devices...they do work though after a restart. I've just left HID-compliant devices disabled and all my buttons are working as they would as normal and I don't get an FPS drop. The only downside is that Setpoint won't recognise my mouse while the HID-compliant devices are disabled.

Try enabling "Force Restart" in the game options. This will restart the game engine at every checkpoint. It only takes literally a second longer for each quicksave and the screen will go blank for a moment but it tends to improve stability and frame rate so hopefully it'll fix your issue.

when I disable HID devices, my Logitech mouse no longer works
I'm using a Logitech V450 though so I guess the HID fix doesn't apply to me

This is perplexing. I have been reading and I have a Logitech G500 mouse and a Wolf King keyboard, and the game is smooth as butter. I guess it's a combination of Logitech KB and mouse?
But, I don't have (and never will) install the software for Logitech. Whatever Windows uses as default drivers is fine with me.

I have a G15, got no lag whatsoever in any of the games. The only noticeable framerate lag was from extraction point because it didn't support widescreen.
