Just throwing my 2 cents in
I think if you have the time to put a few hours in first once the game opens up with the multiple safe houses and lots of people to talk to etc its really good.
I think its a little janky at first but stick with it and once the skills start to take effect in your chosen area (I'm playing stealth with a pistol) the combat and stealth is really effective.
Good game id say.

I consider this game more of an action adventure than an RPG, but the adventure part of it is so good it almost makes up for the action part.

This is a perfect summation.

After the reviews, I'm not that interested anymore. I'll buy it when it comes with a $10 price/deal.
By the way, either SEGA or Steam are crazy: the game was available over here in Brazil until yesterday, since pre-sale. But now, when I go check the page, it says it is unavailable to my region. They changed it over night?
The reviewers are on crack, this game is great, graphics are great too, I couldnt stop playing it last night..
A few tiny things I dont like:
Cant save the game, its only checkpoints..
Dialog answers are on a very short timer, and I keep accidentally hitting the wrong answers..
The game seems a bit rushed, takes a bit to figure out whats going on..

The problem is it really is an RPG, and not an action-RPG like say Mass Effect, which is one of the reasons reviewers are knocking it. Aiming is stat-based, everything is character build related and it has tons of choice and consequence. It's an RPG, even though mechanically it seems to play like a third-person shooter, and reviewers are grading it as a third-person shooter and comparing it to Mass Effect, which they should not do.

It feels more like Deus Ex to me, except with Deus Ex: IW 3rd person view.
SO I still dont see what the problem is.. everyone needs to play the Deus Ex series and then play Alpha Protocol, you will see, the feel should be the same or nearly the same..

I played Deus Ex: IW recently, its a FPS not TPS

It's like the original Deus Ex, not IW. IW was more of a shooter... if IW is Mass Effect, then the original is Alpha Protocol, if that makes sense.

it's not crazy. this game was already available for Europe, other countries before. June 1st was for North America. it's late though.

Pretty funny, I was going to compare it to Deus Ex as well.
I think Alpha Protocol is a good game, not great, not average either. It really had an amazing amount of choices and consequences that I never saw coming. I cant wait to play it again. I wanna be a complete jerk :P
I forgot to add, the perks that pop up for doing things are an amazing little side bonus to this game.
