unable to validate...

okay so i just got UT2K4 off steam, just finnished instaling it, and now when i try to play online it gives me the following message...

"The UT2004 Master Server has been unable to validate this copy of Unreal Tournament 2004. IF the problem persists, please contact Atari Technical support."

So what is wrong!? I just got the game and can't play online.
What do i do now???

Seems like a LOT of people get this error. I had it on my retail copy, so I just bought it from Steam, but now I have a problem where it changes my name to some random number like 0760 instead of saving my actual name. This makes it very hard to level up on an RPG server.
As for fixing your problem, I really don't know, mate. Try reinstalling or play around with your name, and make sure you haven't installed any mods before launching it for the first time.

hey! hey! okay i just figgered it out. I had the exact same problem, (as you can see my post above) and i went to this link on steam support https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1968-HKLX-7538

Follow the steps to verify GCF files and reopen steam as admin, then open UT2k4 and play online. shoot me a reply if it works or not.
