View Full Version : F.E.A.R. 2 is literally giving me headaches

As the title says, and it's the only game to have ever done this to me. Eye strain kicks in at about five minutes, and thirty minutes later headaches make it impossible to play. A few hours rest between sessions does nothing to help. Headbob's not to blame as I play just fine with it enabled in different games, and the problem isn't with Motion Blur or Film Grain either since they're both disabled, though again I do just fine with these options enabled in other games. Resolution is set to my monitor's native 1920x1200, and the strain is the same with Widescreen on or off.

What could the culprit be? As it stands I can't push myself to play this game because it's actually physically hurting me.

Alma is getting to you. It's best just to dig a whole in the middle of nowhere and make a bunker out of it.

Really what I'd suggest, turn down the brightness. Play in a well lit room. Check and see if you need glasses, and take breaks every so often.

I disliked the HUD in FEAR 2. I found myself squinting a lot. Maybe that's it.

something's wrong with your eyes or head.

Hud was god awful. Between the hud and gratuitous amounts of blurring someone getting headaches does not surprise me.

maybe its straining your eyes cause the game is sometimes very dark..

I do wear glasses, proper prescription. Just for the hell of it I tried playing without them, but no. Messing with the brightness in either direction doesn't seem to help either. If it's the HUD, then I guess I'm out of luck. Oh well, I've spent money on worse things than a $20 migraine inducer.

i also wear glasses, can't see sh** without them and the game doesn't give me any problems.

again, it's something wrong with you, not the game/hud.

Pretty much this. Not everyone is the same.

proper prescription

Eyes change, headaches from eyestrain are a good indication to get your eyes checked again.

Some people are more sensitive than others to blur and fov. I usually turn off blur if it's more than a touch. It adds nothing to the game for me personally though I know others like it. I can't remember off the top of my head if we have that option to turn off blur or chg fov in FEAR2 or not.
