The graphics for the roads are not lining up for me in Civ IV: Beyond the Sword (Mac). If e.g. there is a road between two squares next to each other, the leftmost might show the road leaving the square on the right whereas the right square shows the road coming in from above. Imagine Carcassonne tiles randomly put together with no rhyme or reason.

At first I thought this was just a cosmetic issue, but visually it becomes more complicated as the game goes on, making gameplay more difficult.

Is this familiar to anyone out there?

it is a cosmetic issue, with the exception of passage over rivers. though a road may not appear to link properly between two adjoining tiles, movement between them will nonetheless occur at the reduced cost to unit movement.

until you discover bridge building, rivers are the exception to this: roads on adjoining tiles, bisected by a river, are not considered to be linked and will incur a movement cost as if a road is not present.

in late game, there are some minor pathing issues with railroads and roads:
units may take a non-ideal path on a railroad, by mixing in unnecessary road movement. workers may also construct a non-ideal or insufficient railroad network when automated to do so.
