From my past times playing the game i can only remember the story mostly of Urza and the brothers war and after that his walkings around planes ending up with his invasion against
Phyrexia which all that story was epic :) , wish i could get those books again :P...

anyway which books go for the storyline behind this release?

The storyline of then and now aren't really linked by the way, almost like they're saving it. Chandra once studied with Jaya Ballard for example.

I believe it takes place after the Time Spiral block (assuming it takes place in the Magic story) as that's when the planeswalkers were introduced. (the minor ones which were allowed to spring up, many of the major ones sacrificed themselves trying to stop the multiverse from being torn apart)

The old Duels of the Plainswalkers (micropose) took place on the plane of Shandalar after the events of the Ice Age block.

Don't know about the new DotP game.
