SteamPrices.com (http://www.steamprices.com) compares game and package prices from the Steam Store. At the moment, USD, GBP and EUR are supported (and some additional regions like Australia or Germany).
The site was created to show the huge differences in pricing for single games and packages, and of course to easily compare prices if you want to buy a specific game - maybe a good friend of yours wants to make you a present 'cause a game is cheaper in his country.
SteamPrices.com (http://www.steamprices.com/) offers various lists and features, e.g. Top-100 rip-offs for your region or all current discounts, spotlights also appear on the front page. Give it a view. :D
p.s.: Check out SteamCalculator.com (http://www.steamcalculator.com)! The first version of the data collection I use was from that website, made by spezi|Fanta (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/member.php?u=369293)- the design is also inspired by that site. =)
Feel free to contact us for API files.

I'm seeing that Europe isn't always the one getting ripped off... check out some of the "top rip-offs" the US is getting slaughtered.
This is a cool site...

Yeah, a well designed site, imo.
Mods, please please don't delete this thread instantly. It looks like a viable tool to assist with Steam use. No ads either.

If I'm reading that site correctly, it seems that North American customers are getting hosed practically across the board.

You have to change your location at the top right, or go to "best savings" to see what we win on.
But the whole story of "awwww, poor everyone other than US" is definitely not so clear-cut. We get boned too sometimes.

Yeah, lol,, the default view focuses on US prices. You can change the location in the upper right.

Aaaand flaming asshattery begins.
If you compared the two lists together, you might have noticed sliiight discrepancies.

Of course there are discrepancies. But NA gets bad deals too.
However I do notice that Top Deals (for NA) is more recent games, where as top rip-offs are generally older.

Yup, the default price for new games in the US is 50 usd, while it is 50 euro in Europe. That's the main systemic rip-off.
Older games seem to be a problem on Steam regardless of region - after the initial release, Steam prices fall much much muuuuch more slowly than in retail. Some say it is retail cheating because they have to clear out their stock, and yet I see those discrepancies for many years after the premiere as well, well after the stock was supposed to have been cleared.

I love that site, and its usually first visit when something new comes to steam. Its a good alternative to comparison script that sadly does not work anymore.

Maybe I should change the region selection a bit. I got a lot of e-mails saying I should add AUD prices. ;D

The site does not take into account the market. Main reason why we're 'crying' is because games are often much cheaper retail (in some countries) than in Steam Store.
Second reason is that we're not able to purchase in the UK Steam Store, which happens to be a violation of EU laws/guidelines (which are basically the same as laws though :P)
But other than that I'm not complaining. Steam sales are often way cheaper than retail sales and we get the added benefit of Steam itself ^^

It is the same in the US so people from other places in the world still have no place to ♥♥♥♥♥.
There are a bunch of games i would love to get that are cheaper in the store but i only like buying games from steam or retail games that you can add to steam, mainly because i have enough games taking up space lol. (which there are very few of and i already own most that you can)

+1 Finaldeath. :D
@Bulgga: Well I think it not that hard to develop, but it would require a huge amount of database space 'cause you would need to save price information for each day.

I'm not interested in this EUR vs. USD comparison. I always compare Steam prices to the retail store prices, as that affects me much more. And then I buy in the cheaper one.
Sometimes (well, many times) both the USD and EUR Steam prices are way higher than the retail price.

* display related news, if available
* display genre, if available

I'm confused.
I've tried to use the site several times, but the main thing it really seems to do is compare which region the game is in cheapest. Even telling you to 'buy in your own region' etc.
Is it even allowed to buy in other regions?
Is it allowed to let other people gift you games from different zones regularly? I thought I read there was a chance it would get revoked?

Yeah one of the purposes of this site is to show you how much or less are you paying compared to other regions
Is it even allowed to buy in other regions?
Short answer: no. You can't buy games via for example Steam's US shop when you are in Europe.
Long Answer: there are ways how to avoid Steam's region detection, but once they find you are doing this, you risk removing subscriptions (games) from your account or even account ban. You are not breaking any law or Steam Subscriber Agreement, Valve just don't like it (they are loosing money) - and remember: all your subscriptions (games) or your account can be terminated anytime without any reason.
Is it allowed to let other people gift you games from different zones regularly? I thought I read there was a chance it would get revoked?
As long as gifts are purchased and payed properly, gifting is safest way how to get cheaper games from Steam.

My only real complaint with the site is that every single page that has the Search bar will activate the [line indicating you'll be typing words there], which will snap the page back up to the top if I've been scrolling, and force me to click outside of the Search bar(/field?) if I want to scroll with the keyboard.

The version you (or he) get depends on several factors. One is language selected in Steam client and the second is downloader's location detected from his IP address.

I live in the UK and gifted Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 to a friend in Germany and he's got he uncensored version, so it can't depend on the downloaders IP adress. As far as I know, you can tell if you have a censored version if you check your account and it says Left 4 Dead 2 (DE) or (AU).

FYI: There are a bunch of new features on SteamPrices.com. Registered users are allowed to track game prices and are notified if the price drops. On each game details page there's a price chart showing all sales and price changes for this item. We've also added some regions (jp, ru), more are coming soon (Central and South America).
Also new: The "fair-priced games" category showing the gap between "top rip-offs" and "top savings".
Please contact us if you got any suggestions; most of the new features were suggested from users. But please read the FAQ before posting, thanks :)

SPUF has killed another great website.
Damn these forums for containing 75% of the world's internet users, so that when a good link pops up in a thread, the site is immediately flooded with connections and goes down because many of them weren't built to handle that big of a load (giggity) :o

Yeah, SteamPrices is loading slowly (or not at all if the connection times out) since ~ 24h.
We try to implement some more caching algorithms (especially for guests), or maybe we have to get a new webhosting provider soon. o.o

You also have to change the region to /eu/, then compare the games again. :D
Of course there are some games that are more expensive in the U.S. Steam Store, too. But in the past, new releases always were $1 = €1 and most of the "cool titles" from major publishers are cheaper in USD.
But I don't want to discuss in this thread here, please use that one: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=770231 :)

US users get much better deals compared to people from mainland europe, it is a fact.
