Let's just say that, back when it was new, I would have no qualms paying $80 for it.

This doesn't play like any of the three games you mentioned though.

Actually, I bought the retail Collector's Edition for $66, including shipping. (Not living in the US, UK or any other major game market) For the amount of time I spent on it, it's cheap, lol.

This game is not only worth $8.50, but it's probably the best $8.50 you'll ever spend.
Even if it were just the original game + shivering isles you're already getting hundreds of hours of game play.

Top that off with the 8 other DLC packs and the MASSIVE amounts of incredible, game changing mods out there and there should be NO question about buying this.

Oblivion is the game that turned my wife, a casual gamer at best, into a hardcore gamer willing to play pen-and-paper Dungeons and Dragons on a weekly basis. It's that good.

I still have the DVD disc sitting a few feet away, and I bought the game on Steam to ensure I will always be able to reinstall it, even after DVDs are obsolete.

Its a damn fine game.

Considering I bought it on 360 for $70 for the collectors edition, $50 on PC for the retail GOTY edition then yes it is worth it. I just picked it up since I want it on Steam and the retail GOTY edition doesn't come with all the DLC.

Oblivion is my favorite game. I own it for the 360 and the pc, both are great. I actually like Oblivion more than Fallout 3. It may sound strange but it feels like there is a certain heart that was put into Oblivion.

Definitely. I owned it on the 360, played it for 250 hours, got it on the PS3, and played it for 150 hours.

I'd imagine it'd be even more worth it on the PC since there are 100's of mods, especially graphical mods that make it even better looking.

I love Oblivion. I nabbed me one of the CE's for 360, still have it AND my royal Septim bronze coin :D . Picked up the GOTY edition for PC later mostly for the mods. Saw this for 8.50, went to install it via my dvds and they are borked :( odd circuler cut in the top of both dvds which has me stumped since the cuts are perfect circles. oh well, 3 copies purchased (as of 2 minutes ago) and i feel its worth far more than the money ive put into all 3 combined.

Does the steam verison of Oblivion have full mod support?

Edit:

I bought the Deluxe edition yesterday and I have it running with both OBSE (latest version includes a steam loader) and OBMM ;)

OBMM detects the steam folder automatically and installs ;)

Yep. Owned it retail. Game is so good I am getting it on Steam. This IMHO is the best Steam sale so far. I cannot imagine anyone regretting sinking €8.50 on this.

Well, I just bought this game yesterday for £6.80 here in the UK. My jaw almost hit the floor when I saw it for that price and I couldnt get my credit card out fast enough. This is one of the finest games there is, up there with Mouth and Blade, not because of the main game, but because of the MODs that you can get for it.

There are thousands of Mods out there that will let you tailor this game to just the way you like it, there is eve a mod that adds a whole new land called Elswyre(Spelling might be wrong.) with quests for another 30 hours ontop of that.

So yeah...its more than worth that.

I have the GOTY edition on the PS3 but I wanted it on the PC for it's DLC. And for £6.80, it's a bargin. The DLC from the bethesda store is around that price if not more too.

I got the retail version when it came out, it cost me around $75 back then. Of course I buying this again. CD's are prone to scratches.

It's the best sale I've seen on steam so far.

I've probably played this game over 200 hours... and I've never fully beaten it. Worth $8.50? Heck yeah....

Short answer, yes.

Long answer, yes!

This game is worthless. It's inherently broken. You might as well stay at level 1. Level up enough times and enemies get to the point where it takes 100 whacks with your sword to kill. It becomes tedious. And by that time you've probably already sunk lots and lots of hours. Terrible, terrible game. Stay away.

Mods. For example Obscuros Oblivion Overhaul. Solved.

Never encountered that problem personally. Then again, I kill most things with one arrow to the head from a distance while stealthed.

So you never got to level 35+?
Levelscaling works only to the point where you have the best equipment and abilities are at 100. If you level on more you will need a lot of tricks to beat enemies. Some quests will even be impossible to solve since people you should keep safe (like Martin) get killed in 2 hits and the mission just fails.
