No option to launch game.

I bought the game yesterday and it finished downloading now, after I launch it there is "Installing direct X windows something (1 of 1)" and then the launch screen appears. But I can't select anything!

No mods. No patches. Just a fresh install. I tried deleting the My Games\Oblivion folder but it didn't help.
I can use the game launcher that's in the Steam folder and it has a Play option enabled, but after I click it there just appears a new launcher window like the one I linked to.

EDIT:
Out of habit added -window to the startup as all Valve games start in ugly 640x480 otherwise and screw up my window placement. Removing that fixed the problem.

The only things I can suggest are as follows:

1> Delete everything in Documents/My Games/Oblivion
2>reinstall the game.

Not many options there I am afraid. But, let us know if it works.

I am having the same issue as well. I don't really want to uninstall but I will go ahead and try it. I will post with results.

I had the same problem. Right click on Properties of Oblivion in Steam game menu, click on set launch options and this has to be clean! I tryed to run console and disable mouse acceleration so I had some commands there. Now it works fine

I'm having this problem, but unlike everyone else I didn't set any launch commands... so I can't figure out how to fix it.

Indeed, same problem, hoping someone will either find a fix or explain in detail how they fixed it.

Edit: Restarted comp, fixed.
