I read on the internet that a modification is being made to the first half life game & that it will be released by Steam when it is done.
Is this true & if so when can we expect it.

I don't know if Black Mesa will be released on Steam. I haven't been following it closely enough. Take the link E1M1 gave you.

Black Mesa isn't a GoldSrc mod. It's a Source mod remake of HL1.
