So i can run this game high and great. I actually own the retail version that i bought from gamestop, but i saw the deluxe version, and bought ti on steam since my CD for the retail is scratched. I installed, booted, runs beautifully, except for one huge flaw. It randomly freezes/locks up for no real reason. The mouse and keyboard just stop working. I cant exit invnetory screens, esc wont work, it just stops randomly. Theres no exact point either, just random. Any time im in conversation or need the pointer, sometimes it just stops and its made me break a mouse out of frustration. I even lowered the beauty of the game. I need help please, i love this game, and the Retail version has NEVER did this to me before.

This happens to me but only when I alt+tab out and then back in again.

The solution I found was to press ctrl+alt+del and open task manager, then go to applications, right click and click "bring to front" several times.

I tried what you said, and all it really did was bring the game back on my screen, then the pointer wont move at all. Same. It didnt do anything. The games still running fully, music still going, chatrecter still moving on inventory, that pointer just stops working randomly. Its the only game thats ever done that so far.

Take a look at this thread in the Bethesda forums, specifically item no. 4.21

For people who don't wish to click through and read: May have to do with bad/missing av codec's and to try installing the K-Light codec pack.

Codecs are used to encode/decode audio and video formats. Mp3 is a codec, avi is a codec, mpeg is a codec, aac is a codec, etc and so forth.

I don't know why/how codecs are related to the mouse/keyboard issues, but apparently it is for some people.

K-Light is a pack of commonly used codecs. It can be downloaded from here, http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=5748&s=775.

Try installing the K-Lite pack, and see if the problem continues.
