I don`t think I`m going with the new update. Most people are saying they see no enhancement in performance and sometimes even worse than before. Is this true? Because I`m not doing it.

I guess it depends on what type of mac you have. I can say that I personally haven't seen any drop in performance.

TF2 and other source games run fine on mine, what are your specs?

I havnt really seen any change either, for better or worse. Not really any reason not to update, better to have the most up to date version installed because thats what valve would use to dev on.

Personally I dont see much difference in performance from when I'm logged into windows then I do in OS X. Mind you I have an older mbp which is probably the reason why I dont see a difference.

I saw noticeable performance increases in Portal and HL, and a slight increse in TF2. I'm uploading pics now, I'll be posting more details in the other thread (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1309633)

the update doesn't break the game. if you think it does, just delete the game and redownload and it should work fine.

it works fine for me. i saw a slight increase in frames (didn't expect much as this update only adds 1 more extension in opengl 3.0 support, its not the fabled graphics update everyone kept hyping it to be).

You SHOULD update though regardless, it fixes alot of bugs in os x.

thats what i SHOULD have done :( but i updated hoping it would get better than what it already was. it ran perfectly now i have these stupid jumps that get really irritating

What are your mac's specs Chucko?

General rule of thumb seems to be the newer the Mac the more the update improved it, with anything < 2009 actually getting worse.

Im on a late 09 Macbook Pro and my FPS went from 30-50 to 50-70.

I dont know what I'd get under windows but I figure thats pretty close to it.

well it doesn't do any harm. valve just needs to update their games to accommodate the update. give it a few weeks. don't give up hope yet!

on macpro's there are huge improvements regarding the fps. i have a macpro (early '06) with the 8800GT and my fps went from ~20 to ~35 with full settings
