Error Code 54

I keep getting "Error Code 54" every time I want to play. The graphic options box pops up and all the settings are on default. Whether I change them to the settings I want or I leave them default I get the same error.

Edit: I also tried the "Verify Game Integrity". I got "2 files failed to verify" but I still got the same error after. On the second Integrity Scan all files came up fine.

One thing to try is to go to the Trine directory, i.e. C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\trine\ , and try to launch trine.exe directly. Does it give you the error too?

You can also see if a full re-download helps, sometimes the files just get corrupted and even verifying doesn't fix it.

I got the same error code when trying to launch.
Verifying failed on 3 files.
Running trine.exe directly gives me a Steam Error “Application load error 6:00…065432” (Windows-type dialog)

I have a new graphics card and increased graphics settings prior to this error occuring, although it's been some time since I launched Trine.
Even on very low settings it fails to start.

I'm on Win7 x64, Radeon 4870 with recent drivers.
Can't find anything in the System logs.

Oh damn, I just noticed it's the same error for Metro 2033 which still worked 2? days ago.
Others work though...

Ok, after restarting Steam the problem solved itself.
Probably an issue with todays Steam update somehow.

I had the "Error Code 54" error message in Metro 2033. Veryfing game integrity and restarting Steam fixed it for me.
