I think in the patched 1.08 version you can set the hud text size.

Well, you can but I never saw any differences between large and small.

Which game are you talking about?

The game wasn't meant to be run at higher resolutions than 1024x768. They even mention this in the readme file.
In order to get the best game play experience, it is not recommended to
run F.E.A.R. at high resolutions. You should avoid resolutions above
1024x768 on any current generation card. Instead, you can use the
full-screen anti-aliasing (FSAA) option under Graphics in the advanced
options menu. This helps improve the visual quality of the final scene
without dramatically increasing the amount of work that must be performed.
Most players will also notice a significant increase in frame rate by
disabling the Vsync option in the display options screen. If this doesn’t
make enough of a difference, your next step should be to lower your
screen resolution to 800x600 or 640x480.
Yes, today this sounds kind of funny.

F.E.A.R., the first one, has tiny subtitles if you use high resolutions.

The readme is yeaaaaars old. Current generation back then was the likes of the GeForce 6 and Radeon 9k series graphics cards. It was a severe lack of foresight on the programmers part when they didn't include text scaling for F.E.A.R.

So is there any fix on it or should I just lower my resolution? :(

Do what I did... instead of lowering resolution, just mess with the sound settings. Set the music and such lower but set voices higher, that way you'll be able to hear it better... most of the stuff you can't understand (alma) isn't really that important.

I'm not a native English speaker, so the subtitles is a MUST for me...
Btw, I'm running at 1366x768, the option to scale the text hud is useless here...

I'm hearing impaired so I require that CAPTIONS be on. In FEAR1, it's so hard to read the captions that I have to get closer to the screen (practically 15cm close) to read them.

Using a small resolution (say 800x600) will make them readable. I think that's the only real solution, unfortunately.
