Very fun and has unique elements. I'm not that in to the 'respawning monsters' thing, but I really liked the way they did the game starting (where I clicked to play for the first time and then it just took off, proper settings, no big startup screens or anything, jumped right into the game) Also I enjoy the interface touches, everything is logical and well done. I've played about an hour and a half so far, and aside from the 'only save at campfires' thing this game is fun and promises to be an interesting diversion. The scenery and characters and monsters are very well done.

Thanks for your opinion, Chronomorte, we appreciate it and hope that you will continue to enjoy our game.

Any chance you guys will patch in a better save system? Sacred 2 for instance used to have the same save-point system, only at shrines. Then they patched it so one can save anywhere, but on reload will respawn at a shrine. I personally can't even force myself to start playing if I know that I cannot quit whenever I must. Thanks.

I don't mind all that much as long as the campfires are fairly common. It is a little different if you are in a pitched battle and there's no way to save just before and retry 17 times if it goes bad - so it does make me more careful at times. It really can blow, though, if they aren't available enough - for instance if you have to do more than 15-20 minutes of something then have to do it over a bunch of times the game can get unplayable. So far that's not the case in Numen.

All that said, I'm still not sure why in this day and age some games still use save points and respawns - it sure seems more practical to have a way to quicksave wherever and whenever (maybe allowing for a couple exceptions) the player wants.

Hmm, "you can save anywhere, but you will reappear at a camp fire after reload" sounds really good. But we decided for the save-point system exactly for the reason Chronomorte described - so that the players are more careful. And personally I think that this won't be changed any more. We know that there are few instances where save points are a little bit further from each other than it would be suitable, but since we didn't consider it such a nuisance during tests, we have left it the way it is. This can be bad though, when you are unlucky enough and Numen crashes on your machine from time to time. :(

Nevertheless, I will discuss it with lead scripter to see how difficult it would be to implement and what are team's thoughts about this.

BTW: I prefer quicksaves as well.

How about an 'auto-save' when going in and out of dungeons and similar areas? That would really help with the 'stuck in a dungeon but something in the real world came up and I need to go now' problem.

Been enjoying the game - it's more accessible than some, I can leap in and play for 30 minutes for example, where with some games it takes more time to get in synch with the game so you know you need at least an hour or something to start. I'm still trying to figure out how to target something with a bow, then hit it with a draining shot first, without a regular shot to alert it. You can't just click on the draining shot then target the creature, it has to already be targeted which means you probably already fired a normal arrow.

about auto-save when going in and out of dungeons and similar areas: There is an auto-save feature, but I'm not sure how exactly it works. I will have to check it with lead scripter.

about targeting enemies: Try the right mouse button or TAB key.

Well, that's awesome about the auto-save, I would definitely consider that very desirable. In many games and many occasions the auto-save has bailed me out of really bad choices or forgetfulness or even electrical problems that flicker the computer, etc...

As for the tab/right mouse button, thanks! I'm sure it's in the instructions somewhere, I just jumped into the game and have been doing quests and haven't read any instructions. That's one of my initial points about liking the game - the interface is done very well, no need for a bunch of instructions to get right into the story.

Final impressions after having completed the game

Some minor bugs - nothing too major. Best advice to give here is to definately use multiple save games since the game once crashed *while saving* and completely ate my save game...

Regardless of class - work on Endurance or you will be sorry later on (get it to 109 unbuffed then you should be fine.)

Some hints re: where Orthrus is actually located would have been really helpful - I had to dig on the internet to find out where to go - NOT FUN :(

Otherwise - the quests were straight forward for the most part and the open ended feel was nice. Not a hugely complex game but a nice change of pace whcih I enjoyed.

Ending, sadly, left me extremely underwelmed :( More fanfaire was expected for being the champion of the Gods.

All in all I'd recommend the game for anyone looking for a game which is simple and not too terribly repetitive (I never had to grind really which was *very* nice) game similiar in look and feel to WOW.

My first impressions are that I'm very surprised how good this game is for having such a small development team and at such a low price. Only played for about an hour this evening but glad I bought this one.

I agree completely with this.
After watching videos and looking up info about the game, I honestly wasn't expecting much. But now after playing for a few hours I'm really impressed with how well done the game is.
For such a relatively unknown developer and game (And probably small budget) they did a fantastic job.
It's just a shame the game so far is being largely ignored :(

Wow, that's tough. Nothing worse than devoting hours and hours into the game, to have it all undone by a crash!

There ARE multiple saved game slots available, right?

Yes, there is quite a lot of them, even though their number is limited.

I haven't played much yet, but I agree with the first impressions. The interface is logical, and the scenery is gorgeous. I enjoyed how the character's uncle tries to dissuade him from becoming an archer or mage.
