Deus Ex Freezing at Airfield

Just got the game from Steam a few days ago, and quite enjoying it, until it starting to freeze during the latter half of the third mission. After exiting the elevator at the top floor, the game complete locks up forcing me to ACD to task and kill the process. I've tried running it on one core and verifying my game cache, but no luck.

I'm running Vista 64-bit with a dual Core at 3 GhZ and 4 gigs of RAM.

Anybody have any advice?

Are you running any mods (Shifter, etc)? That might be what's causing it.

You can try loading an old save (2-3 maps back) to make sure you didn't break anything.

All else fails, do a full reinstall.

Yeah, I reloaded my lost hard save, and haven't had a problem since (though I've been making new saves in paranoid fashion).

I don't have any mods so I don't know what the problem was.

Probably just didn't save right. It's not all that uncommon.

By the way, if you're really paranoid, you might want to try picking up Biomod (http://www.moddb.com/mods/biomod/), which among other improvements adds an autosave feature.

Thanks for the tip on the mods. They're adding even more fun to an already fun game. :D
