View Full Version : False Advertising by STEAM for MoH release?

I, like many other gamers have pre-purchased medal of honor in hopes of accessing the beta today due to also owning BC2. Well, I bought the game yesterday and still nothing here and it's already 1900 hours on the 17th. Since I cannot call steam for technical support, I sit here and patiently wait. Isn't this considered false advertising? I mean if you cannot guarantee someone full access to the early beta, why falsely advertise the fact to sell pre-purchases? Is it just me or is this just wrong? I am curious as what steam has to say to this. As of right now, I want a refund for my damn medal of honor game. WTF steam, was not expecting this from you.....maybe I should just stop buying games from you entirely....

I assure you they don't care. All you can do is wait...

This is actually EA's fault so Steam, or rather, Valve, has nothing to do with it. If you want a refund then go to https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1223-QROC-4460

Good luck.

This.

If you're already crying "false advertising" when the day isn't even over...

Especially since it isn't Valve's fault. Nobody is playing the beta now. Go be mad at EA, not Valve.

At least. I'd say give them till 0000 PST (midnight at Valve,) but 3 hours early is better than 7.

Nobody is playing the beta? I specifically read in a few posts around the Steam Forums that EA has already handed out Beta keys and it is live. I mean wtf if you can't guarantee something don't advertise it, it's just good business....

Valve was promised the beta keys and client today by EA, but they ♥♥♥♥ed up so Valve has nothing to give us.

If Guy A promises to let you borrow a game and you invite Guy B over to play it, but then Guy A never gives you the game, is it your fault that Guy B can't play it now?

If you don't like it, you can get a refund.

I spoke too soon. I meant 3rd party retailers. Still not Valve's fault.

The build is made for EA and a separate one us made to work with STEAM. Both go through different QA process at different places.

So yeah, can take a day or more extra for the Steam version.

A day or more

Gee, thanks.

Next time don't lie in the information and tell us we will get access on the 17th when you have no idea when you can do it EA.

If they knew that, why the hell did they tell steam that the beta would be available on the 17th? Poor excuse for wanting 100% of the profit instead of 70% or whatever Steam charges

Haha, so I see someone else feels the burn. I don't know about other people but I do not like being lied too. I don't care who's fault it is, but I was guaranteed early beta access if I "PRE-PURCHASE TODAY!!!!" and instead got nothing but a he said she said situation thrown in my face. I love how steam works....

Steam isn't to blame. See my earlier comparison:

If Guy A promises to let you borrow a game and you invite Guy B over to play it, but then Guy A never gives you the game, is it your fault that Guy B can't play it now?

Well, I understand where you are coming from but you would think Steam would have ensured the early release with EA and obtained the beta keys ahead of time. For christ's sake they are both distribution businesses and this is just completely unprofessional on both their accounts. EA's for being jack asses and failing to accomplish any task the right way and Steam for believing in EA's lies and not ensuring the guarantee of the beta keys.

From what I've read it looks like Valve have the keys but EA hasn't told them they can release them yet.

As I understand it, Steam has the keys, but EA too their sweet time getting the Steam client out of QA.

EA isn't intentionally screwing Valve (I think.) Why wouldn't Valve believe EA when they say they will deliver the client on time?

Yea, IMO, the problem is, EA wants people to buy directly from them, then they'll tell Steam tomorrow on the 18th that the "servers have been fixed" and they can release the keys now  jackasses.
