Tried verifying game-cache? Sounds like your game's video-files or any other files are broken.

What fixed it for me was going to the steamapps folder and setting the games compatibility mode to xp service pack 2.

As everyone said, verify the game cache files. If it doesn't work, maybe check the game's configuration to see if the number of monitors is set to 1. Also, choose your native resolution. It sometimes helps.

You are being ripped off. Same problem here on Win 7x64. I get to the license creation screen and it locks up. Contacted Steam for refund and was directed here and to EA's support forums. NO ANSWER ANYWHERE.

RIPPED OFF!!! THanx steam.

PS. I did the XP compat, Admin, blah blah blah. No novice here.

No need to re-install the fix for this error is simple go to your steam folder

D:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\burnout(tm) paradise the ultimate box

then right click the .exe and run in compatibility for windows xp

[VISTA/WIN 7 Users only]

+rep if this helped you in any way to run the game

Have you guys tried what I said? When you launch the game you can choose between "Play Burnout: Paradise The Ultimate Box", "Configuration" and "View Support Information". Choose "Configuration" and see if the number of monitors is correctly set. Also, put your native resolution. And obviously, click on "Save and exit".

+rep if this helped you in any way to run the gameYou should be ashamed to help people just for having more rep (it's totally useless anyway).

Have you tried running Steam as administrator? If not go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam, right click Steam.exe go to Properties, Compatibility, then check - run this program as administrator. I hava win7 x64 and this game runs fine for me. The problems you are having I had with Crysis and if I remember right this solved the problem. Also try running the games exe file with admin rights.

Okay I have the same problem as above.

The windows compatibility thing did stop the game from crashing to the desktop but now it just freezes.

How do I get my money back?????

are your video drivers up to date? The game runs fine on my desktop with win 64, i7, sli 260s, and my friend runs it fine with amd quad and 5770.

The game freezed on me on my first start up, figured it was my firewall blocking the game from accessing the internet. POS coding, didn't allow me to tab out to desktop to access my firewall, had to do a hard reset...

It is unlikely you are going to get a refund, but even if you did it would not fix your problem.

Revert all hardware back to stock specs. If your cpu and/or video card are overclocked then set them back to default speeds. Reset all memory speed settings and timings on both back to stock also.

Download Driver Sweeper from Guru3d and use it to uninstall your ATI drivers. If you had an Nvidia card in this system before your 5780 then use DS to purge your system of any leftover Nvidia files also. Download the newest ATI drivers before using Driver Sweeper and install them when your system reboots after Using Driver Sweeper.

If you are not good yet then test your system and video card with some stability tests such as Prime95, OCCT, MSI Kombuster etc. If it crashes then you may either some faulty hardware or some other conflict in the OS. If you are having problems in other areas besides this game then you may want to consider a reformat and a fresh OS install.

Of course if you have tried all this then just ignore this.

And you have tried adding -multithread in the 'Set launch options'?

i had the same problems with crashing, but fixed it, it was a driver issue as im sure most of the problems people are having are due to drivers not being properly up to date.
if you are 100% sure you have all drivers up to date (and i mean ALL DRIVERS for all hardware), you have your setting correct (nvidea/catalist control pannel), and tyou have defragmented and varified the game and it still does not work try reinstalling the game.
use the latest drivers from your hardware manufacturer and dont think cos you got win7 all your drivers are up to date.
im 100% sure that 99% of these issues are driver related.

why would you get your money back?
nothing is faulty or damaged you have no chance.

Exactly, there was no problem with the product you purchased, whatever problem you have belongs to your PC, so there's no reason for you to get a refund.

Chill out, is not like you paid for the ticket to a movie you won't get to see. The game is now forever attached to your account. If it doesn't work in this PC, it will work on another one, and you can install it whenever you want. Or you can just wait 'till you get to fix whatever problem you have in this PC and then install it there.

There clearly are issues with this game. Don't say it isn't broken. It may work fine for some of you, but I can't run the game and from this forum and others many can't run the game. It isn't like we have old incapable systems. There is no reason it should have so many problems. This game is broken and should not be for sale or at least refunds made available for the many it won't work for.

This game is far from a rip off, I've had this game for quite some time. Since you have a PC issue, It's not the fault of steam/ea, Or anyone but your self. Posting here will only ask to be flamed since you have shown you do not know how to read, nor care to but only complain. Since I play this game on a regular basis with zero issues, and as well as all others I know. It only shows the issue is "your" machine.

And the break down.... Win7 has minor issues with "some" games not all, this issue is based on Admin control and UAC, Which is a similar issue that Vista had on it's kick off. since some have gotten a new machine for b-day/grads, what not, you should look into the Microsoft forums for your answer not here. Cause it will not be here, Win7 is too new for the answers to appear up here just yet. Head over to the MS site, or call them directly. Since this is a Win7 Issue, "THEY WILL" assist you. Providing you don;t act like a ♥♥♥-hat when you call them.
