Yeah, still a $40 price tag and then only 33% off, its like they don't want to sell more copies of the game. Ah well, I've waited this long, I can wait some more.

seeing spore on the main page got my hopes up, but yeah the price should be significantly less.
what a disappointing sale week. :(

I was hoping to buy Spore today: to be honest, due to the age of the game I was expecting to pay £10 - £12 for the base pack, with a maximum price of £20 for the whole package.
I can buy, at this moment, the PC version of Spore from Amazon for £9.23 including postage. I want it on Steam to be able to access with both desktop and netbook.
I would like to play the game, but know (thanks to reviews) that I'll only play the first sections (unless difficulty fixes have been applied...)
Hopefully the price will be reduced closer to Christmas.

$60 for complete pack... with sale... after 2 years since release...
EA lost their minds.
PS. at least Mirror's Edge is $5 only. I olready own a retail CD but got this today on Steam. So the day is not complete waste.
The complete pack of spore should be $60 msrp, not $90.
It's not worth $90, period.

Sale on complete edition is double what it should be regularly. That's insane. I was thinking to myself, if EA has spore complete around $30, I might consider getting it this weekend. It's not the value I would usually assign to a game of it's quality, but maybe I'd throw EA a bone.
Ha at $60 for complete, I'm not buying any EA games anytime soon. I was planning on getting Dead Space, but not after the joke that is the Spore sale. I simply wont support greed (and EA is full of it... Sims 2 and expansions haven't even come down in price even though Sims 3 and several expansions have already been out a couple of years).
Anyway, I have D2D and Impulse to check on for weekend deals (maybe they will be worth my attention and $). EA can just go and taking a flying dive off a cliff.

LOL - I was actually going to buy Spore thinking that it will be around £5 or so, even with their silly DRM.
It's available for £8.50 retail, and has been for a long time in the UK. But Valve/EA are asking £20 - HAHAHAHAHA
I hope that this sale wasn;t paying for the chirstmas party ... it's sure gonna be quiet if it is.

EA don't get counter-intuition.
Most stringent anti-piracy measure of the time = most pirated game ever.
Sell it for less = make more money.
Since Activision and Ubisoft have been trying hard to take the crown of worst publishers in the industry, EA has been trying to improve. But I always said EA is like Mr Burns: he's evil and even when he's trying to be good, he's even more evil.

By the way Spore is a crap game, at this point they would have to pay me just to think about playing it.

and the game still sold millions, they made money, don't worry.Ha at $60 for complete, I'm not buying any EA games anytime soon. So you are denying yourself a great game because you don't like the price of another game from the same company, great logic. Also, if you don't want to support greed, go live in a cave somewhere where you don't have to buy anything.

you really should start your own business, remind me not to work for you though, but I'll definitely go buy some stuff from you.
the price is to high, but some of you people really need to get outside some.

i got the spore special edition when it came out from walmart for 60 bucks and then I got both of the expansion packs later from fred meyers for 20 bucks a pop. I have invested about 100 in this game. Im happy it is not in steam because it will never be updated and it never will be needed to either. :)

Spore was fun until I got to space, after that when I could not do anything but hobble around broke and unupgraded the game turned to crap. I know all I had to do was harvest spice or whatever but I never found any spice that was worth hauling forever and a day to trade. It may be fixed now but I will never know as I actually have standards when it comes to video/computer games.
My standard is as such. When a game becomes more work and frustration than fun it has stopped being a game. Space was just pure work and frustration. The problem is though that too many sheeple are afraid to admit when they have been ripped off and will continue to play/support bad product. That is why 90% of AAA games these days are market research mass produced garbage.

the space stage is alot better with the galactic adventures pack. You acctually play missions on planets and stuff. mission sould download and thos missions are made by other people.

Extremely dissapointing. Would have brought the complete Spore pack but not at $60 USD... I can buy that cheaper in store here in Australia.
Would have brought Need for Speed too but not at such a crap saving $5-6...
You're loss EA, I'm not the only one.

I'm not buying Dead Space because I have no interest in the game. However, I was going to buy Dead Space (for the heck of it) if the price of Spore was decent to support EA if they actually put up a decent price for Spore Complete. Because they didn't I have no interest in supporting the company.
As for not supporting greed, there are many ways to make profit without butthumping the customer. And basic economics indicates that as price goes up, the amount of a product the population is willing to buy goes down. The sweet spot for this product would be closer to $30-40 for complete edition. $60 is down right disrespectful of people's intelligence.
I, for one, see no reason to pay more for a 2 year old, mediocre game that's on sale than most all regularly priced games at release or GOTY editions. I would spend $50 regular price on Fallout 3 GOTY (note that I already own it) than $60 on sale for Spore out of principle and because fallout >> spore in terms of value from my perspective.

I would have bought this for 10€ or the complete pack for 15€, perhaps.
I've rarely payed more than 20€ for a videogame. I won't pay 26€ for a game that don't have achievements, it's two years old and it has an agressive DRM.

I agree with you guys 100%
Hey, EA: Stop being so cheap and give discounts that might actually increase your sales a margin above what the actuaries say they will be.
Stop calculating sales versus discount by a statistical formula.
And go F yourselves.

But it is selling well. The SPORE complete pack is currently #4 on the top seller list. If they're selling well at that price, why bring it down any more?
BTW, I think you mean accountants, not actuaries.

Well, from the Steam store:
INTERNET CONNECTION, ONLINE AUTHENTICATION, END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT REQUIRED TO PLAY. TO ACCESS ONLINE FEATURES, YOU MUST REGISTER ONLINE. ONLY ONE REGISTRATION AVAILABLE PER GAME.
That looks like DRM to me. I don't bother if it's SecuROM or another one. I need Internet connection and online authentication to play single player mode. I don't like that.

EA obviously dooesn't understand how digital distribution works. If you cut the price in half you will sell more than twice as many units.
wtf its on the top seller list...who is buying this ♥♥♥♥...find them and execute them lol
Likely the same people who buy crap like The Sims 5 or 6 or whatever it's at, and licensed movie games, and third party Wii games.

I could certainly argue against that statement.
But yes, the sale was terrible. But then, EA is likely one of the cheapest companies out there. They spend more money to stop pirating than the amount they'd lose to it.
