C&C 4 - Cannot gain XP in campaign mode?

I've completed the first few campaign missions of C&C 4, but do not seem to be getting any XP at the end of each level. The "XP progress" page shows up each time, but it still says I have gained 0 XP. Is it normal that I am not gaining XP by playing the campaign?
