ati drivers are simple to install, only one games has given some trouble with drivers and it just need an update it was fallout with a ati 4850 but the last two years have been trouble free.

ATI drivers have installed worked great for me since 8.4 until the most recent 10.6.
I had performance problems with 10.5 so I'm still using 10.4 for now.

ATI's drivers have been rock solid so far. That includes multi-monitor support (2 or 3 monitors), and virtually any games I've thrown at it so far. Hell, I'm playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on my HD 5870. The new Cat 10.6 drivers have a lot of performance tweaks for the 5xxx series.
