Extract the files downloaded to a new folder on your desk top call it anything you want but nfsuc world work great.

From the the TWO NEW folder where you extracted the downloaded files Follow instruction below In order:

your saved games folder for back up is "Documents and Settings\yourcomputername\My Documents\NFS Undercover"

Its the original update 17 and 18 version,,it does both single player and online play,,there are not a lot of players online but maybe there will be more now...adds new maps to game, cars and fixes.

double edit: man is the single player supposed to be this easy? I win each race by 20-60 seconds ahead of everyone and that makes it hardly even fun :-/

Spanish Lang,,,is included when you install your game from steam...set your language "right click need for speed undercover...under all games in steam...go to properties click it,,,the in dialogue box choose you language..then install update at beginning of thread...:)

It seems like it worked for me to be able to get online and have the challenge mode available, but I'm getting terrible lag now. The shadows are also now constantly twitching when they're turned on, which I didn't get before either. I had Steam verify the files to go back to their outdated version, and now the performance is okay, but of course missing online and challenge mode. Any tips? :(

Be sure to put all files in proper folders,,,hav not tried this game on my win7 game box...onxp works perfect..and fast...and online..turn you settings down to lowest in game and work your way up.. setting after update try it if not working reinstall or update you vid card drivers ..NOTE always set a restore point...reboot...give it a try,,

It looks like this is an excellent way to patch the game, but I just want to know if people are experiencing the performance improvements with it. Also, just how much harder does this make the game? I'm already having some trouble dominating some of the races in the 2nd island area.

On the original Steam version, it's very playable for me (with a few frame rate drops during pre-race cutscenes) with everything on highest, 1680x1050 resolution, and I don't want this to make it any worse, but I'd really like the online and challenge modes available, along with the other fixes in the patch notes.

EDIT: Disaster.... I installed the updates and I can no longer make J-turns (among other maneuvers) without significant lag... I tried to revert, and my save game is ruined, the original game won't recognize it... 8 hours of playing wiped out... this sucks... guess that's what happens when you try to force things manually...

A similar update was done for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

which i has used for my steam version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl...that was posted here on steam forums as a sticky before the DEVS updated the game on steam...this is what was posted

1. Download Universal Extractor

2. Download the 1.0005 US patch (get full not incremental)

3. Run regedit (start --> run --> regedit [enter])

4. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREGSC Game WorldSTALKER-SHOC

5. Modify the InstallVers key to read "1.0005" instead of "1.000500"

6. Create a new registry String (right click->New->String Value) named InstallLang

7. Double click the new InstallLang and enter en into the Value Data field.

8. Run Universal Extractor and extract the 1.0005 patch files

9. Go to the folder that has just been created and find and copy the XR_3DA.exe

10. Paste it into "SteamSteamAppscommonstalker shadow of chernobylbin" folder or similair

11. Run the 1.0005 to 1.0006 patcher

12. Browse to Program Files THQS.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl and select all files and copy them to your steamappscommonstalker shadow of chernobyl folder.

after i was able to play with the update....

stalker players know of this but is not needed now as the game was finally officially patched...

All The Files Are there,,,Have not tested on win7..as most older games get broke on on it...install your windows xp on your pc win7 has duel boot..keep your games that play on xp on xp and game that play on win 7 one win 7...its that simple.

i got rid of the issue with world effects on high, where it totally brings the system to it's knees every couple miles by turning catalyst ai to standard and antialiasing mode to adaptive but it still does that little jerky lurch every two seconds or so...

as i said this is the only game that gives my system a hard time. i get 58 FPS average in ♥♥♥♥ing crysis at 1920x1080 with everything maxed and 2xaa!

you will have to find someone the runs this game on your os...i run it on my xp box...max setting everything better compatibility and using sli it screams "yes i run it sli NVIDIA"..i use my win 7 box for the newest games...try duel boot with xp/win7...run you older games on xp..best solution i ever did two game boxes....i also yse this for performance setting tailerded for the way i like http://www.nhancer.com/

OPPS it happens...you can try this launch the game let it load,,alt/tab out right click task bar click task manager got to processes find nfs.exe right click it and set affinity by un checking cpu 2 and cpu 3 use two cpu only

Just buyed this game yesterday in Steam for 5 bucks as promotion.
Made the manual update but I discovered a bug with the Lotus Elise Stripes, they become brite red. It is a epic fail from EA and STEAM too for having an update and not realising it.

My son has the Steam version, I have the EA digital DL. We couldn't play multiplayer together and I thought it was because the Steam version is kept more up to date than my retail copy. But I was wrong!

update punkbuster open game ports in router if you have...to host game and play..this update for steam does work,,,and so does the other posted...the only other way to get the updates for steam is to use origin buy adding your key to it from steam...and downloud the full game from it u still must update punbuster or you will be kicked..

I did some work for people who need help with outdated NFS Undercover, I downloaded Massive Gamer's RAR archive from his very first post on this topic, I made nice working NSIS installer for his files, I put link to it here and what happened? My account (DziadekUK) is banned now.

That's not very nice. My NSIS installer version contained exactly the same files, which Massive Games'r put in his RAR archive. If those files have something common with software piracy, should be removed from Steam forum in first place, don't you think?
