Hi everyone!
I bought BO:P via Steam at this mega-sale two days ago, and everything runs fine so far.
Except for logging in to my EA-Account.
I don't know what to enter here - i already have an EA-master account in which several other "Personas" are linked to (e.g. for Battlefield, Need for Speed).
But now i don't know what to enter ingame for logging in...
The master-account doesn't work because it's the E-mail address and the game doesn't let me enter "@" or even "."
So please could anyone give me (and perhaps other users having the same problem) a little how-to of what has to be done?
Greetings from Germany,
Cobalt

guys you need to go to your EA account in EA website and setup a master ID. (a new persona - stupid system!)
basically when you try to login into your account in EA website it should ask you to make a master ID... then you use that in burnout.
BUT, be prepared for a crash when you enter that in the game, make sure not to tick "remember me" cause then it will try to log in automatically when you start the game - resulting in a crash... if you don't tick "remember me" you will still be able to play the single player.
as for why it crashes.... ♥♥♥♥ EA/Steam!

I have done that, I actually have done it 3 times, lol. now my EA account has about 7 personas all up (one of which is an EA ID) and I keep getting that "account and password combination doesn't exist" error, and every now and then, seemingly at random it says the server is unavailable.
silly thing :(
Az
*edit* don't worry, it works now. Must have taken a while for the new account to register or something, it hasn't worked all afternoon and now suddenly it worked.
Confused me
Anyway it was my EA ID persona that I eventually worked, so anyone having troubles go to EA.com and log in, then create new persona, EA ID, then have fun finding an unused one, lol
and remember burnout only seems to recognize letters, numbers, - and _ so anything else in your name and you won't be able to login

same problem : /
i already had a master id but it will not work.
contacted EA's live support 2 times and regular support once
the regular support has taken 2 days to respond to my response so i'm guessing he's chosen to ignore the issue
the 1st guy sent me off to steam support to get my cd key
the 2nd guy confirmed my master ID and reset my password and then just disconnected me from the live support -,-"
now i just chose to write to criterion see if they can help since EA just plain sux, also a funny quote imo
"Me : the game was purchased on Steam so there is no CD key available, i have checked this with multiple people and none of them have a cd key when they purchased burnout paradise through steam... before u ask...
Andy: Ok please wait let me check .
Andy: Ok please provide me your game key in upper case letters ."
also there is this topic on the EA forums : http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/30/357799.page
which is also about this issue and one's like it with which ea is dooing and has been dooing... u guessed it not a damn thing for 6 month's now >.<
cant valve just publish all games, they have awsome support : /

your cdkey is in your registry, go to your start menu type "regedit" (no quotes) into the search (or run on xp) box.
Then when your registry comes up got to
hkey local machine>software>wow6432node(if on 64bit os if not skip)>Electronic arts>EA games>Burnout paradise>ergc
and your cd key is in there

I've created a fresh EA account for this game, and the game said "invalid name" for no reason while trying to login.
@gendou89
Login from ea.com doesn't help, my profile is only 50% complete "unverified" so you click to verify "A verification email has been sent." and you receive nothing at all, spam or not, what a bad joke. So there is no way to complete it, can't believe this a site bug, this must be intentional (I've tried with firefox and ie).
@A2ra3l
I have no cd key in both paths. Anyway I will not contact EA support because their system is a pure fail.
At least the offline mode is working well.
To be honest I don't care much about the multiplayer because of the price I've paid but this remain really annoying.

The online/multiplayer bit is the best aspect to this game. Without it, you're pretty much screwed.
Supposedly, this has been fixed in the latest 'patch', but Steam refuses to address it.

thx for the link to the registry, i found it and contacted EA again.
they told me the cd key was not registered, when i asked them how to register it since there was no popup for the cd key at the install they pointed me to me EA profile where u can register burnout paradise (but it does not ask for a serial number).
he told me to wait for the mail i did so told em i still didn't have to enter the cd key anywhere, he asked me to log in and when i told him the error is still there.... he asked me to contact steam support
awsome.
so now all i can do is wait for a mail from criterion (which im not expecting much from, if EA handels the accounts they probably also handle the servers), and the mails from Valve which i am also not expecting much from since it seems to be caused by the EA account : /

what patch? The game from steam is updated to 1.1.0.0, that is the latest patch. Ignore the text file called version, the game doesn't get it's version number from a text file, that file is there so people know what updates they have added, but when they released the new update they forgot to put in a new text file with the new version number.
Right click on your burnoutparadise.exe go to properties and in the details tab under version it will say 1.1.0.0, that is what game version you have, everyone that has checked the .exe instead of the text file has discovered this.
and @Phada it is not called "cdkey", there should be a file in that ergc folder (if you are not seeing the folder you are in the wrong place try searching burnout in the registry search) called default, under "data" will be your cdkey should be made up of 20 characters, letters and numbers.
hope that helps

Maybe your local steam content server has the wrong version, can you make sure the game is set to auto update and change your content server to another country. Where in the world are you? I am wondering if I made a steam backup of the game and sent to you would it install where you are? I have the latest version but from the Australian store.

yeah auto update s on ofc tried re-dling
disable auto-update enable it again
then I checked folder size in bytes with my friend also files number and folder numbers and all the same. Even the exe is the same size in bytes. Yet is says version 1.0.0.1. So my friend sent me his exe and i replaced it.
Maybe I need to fail an event differently to check its version but after replace the exe nothing changed. I dont know the cause exactly anymore since Ive been messing around with it so long but the sound suddenly dissappeared and i have to alt+tab out of it to hear sound again. Also the game froze after finishing an event too. So i set launch option -multithread and that was fixed. Also Ive done verify game files too which doesnt change anything unless I delete a few files then it will re-dl them.

@A2ra3l
You are right I was in wrong path >EA Games> instead of >Electronic Arts>EA Games> found it by searching directly "ergc". :o
@anub1s18
I just register my game @ https://ea.onlineregister.com/, no cd key was asked, and I got a email to confirm quickly after.
BUT, I still have the "invalid account name" in game :(
I will try later, I keep your guys informed.
@SkullArm
Very odd, the exe is 1.1.0.0 for me.
I have no idea what you can do, but I think that you must use the files that you downloaded from steam.
SkullArm
06-22-2010, 07:44 AM
Today I re-downloaded it again after leaving it for a while since I got sick of it. And now it the exe says 1.1.0.0. So I guess this 4th time or so of re-dling somehow did the trick I guess.
For the other problems....*&sigh*
Well at least EA support responded and we are working on it.
Steam support hasn't responded yet about the update 1.0.0.1 -> 1.1.0.0 issue tho it was before the weekend it asked it...

jus go to creat new account???? why do you need to use ur ea login? if you have created to many accounts you may not be alowd to do this, an will have to contact ea with your game key (can be found in regitry or steam support) ea will reset accounts as long as you have game key. took 3 days for my friend to sort this out with steam an ea but it was sorted.

Register the game doesn't change anything, apparently we can register the game again (this cannot be serious).
How the hell can I contact EA support? Don't tell me http://support.ea.com/ which I have no confidence at all.
Is there a email or something more entrusting?

Ring them is the best way, the number should be on their support page, most people that rang them got their problems sorted in a few minutes (better than waiting weeks or longer for an email, lol

Hey all,
I've been fighting with my Burnout Paradise for a couple of weeks now on several issues:
1. The game locks up on my laptop, reproducible every time when the Driver's License comes on the screen, whether through starting a new career, or copying a saved game from my other computer and getting into the menus where the license information appears. (I can play the game otherwise now that the saved game got me past the freakin' long intro videos that only heaven knows why Criterion didn't allow us to skip.) Incidentally, I still haven't solved this one, and I fear it has to do with the "WebCam" issues I keep reading about all over the net.
2. My son and I both bought copies through Steam the same day. We bought under my account, then installed while still logged in as me.
After install, my son launched the game (still logged into my Steam account) and gets to the point it asks for an EA account to tie to this CD-Key. He asked me if he could create a new one and I gave my verbal approval, not realizing he was still signed in under my Steam account.
So his EA account got tied to my CD-Key.
After an hour on EA's live chat, they totally hosed both our accounts and actually created new accounts under similar emails in an attempt to "transfer" my CD-Key's tied EA account to my own.
After another day or two, we finally got the EA accounts cleaned up, and I found out that my son's CD Key still hadn't had an account tied to it.
So we tried logging into Steam under his account, launched the game and attempted to tie his EA account to his key.
Alas, it wasn't meant to be. Oh a whim, I finally decided to try logging with my EA account under his Steam login and it worked.
It became apparent to me that my CD-Key was being used all the time, regardless of which Steam account is logged in.
It's too bad Steam doesn't change the registry key (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Burnout(TM) Paradise The Ultimate Box\ergc) that dictates what Burnout actually uses.
See, Steam keeps its own copies of your CD keys in the registry (and keeps a different one for each user that owns the game.) But the registry key EA uses only has one CD-Key and that is the one tied to the Steam user that installed the game.
So we thought, "Great! We'll uninstall... log in as my son's Steam account and reinstall." For some reason that still didn't work.
Now, at this time, I hadn't known about the EA registry key, only about the Steam ones. By this time, after several more emails had transpired during this time between myself and EA, EA's support finally turned me over to Steam support.
After several days of Steam trying to help me out, one of the support people ended up informing me of the EA registry key; but asked that I delete that whole part from the registry, re-login to Steam as my son, re-verify local game cache in Steam, then try to launch the game again, in hopes that it would somehow let us now tie my son's EA account to his CD-Key.
However, I decided to try just replacing my CD-Key with my son's in the EA registry and we were able to just launch Steam again under my son's account and get his EA account tied to his CD-Key.
Now both of us can launch the game and login with our own EA accounts.
I have detailed steps of what to do if you have multiple Steam accounts on one machine where more than one of the Steam accounts owns a copy of Burnout Paradise:
techsupport.thatoneplace.net (http://techsupport.thatoneplace.net/2010/12/steam-burnout-paradise-multiple-owners.html)
And while I know your issues aren't directly related, I think some of the things to try might still apply.
So I propose the following, if you're still up for trying:
Make sure the CD-Key in the EA part of the registry matches the one Steam reports is yours...
Delete the "AutoLogin.BurnoutParadiseSave" file from %UserDocumentsAndSettingsPath%\Local Settings\Application Data\Criterion Games\Burnout Paradise\Save\ folder
This will at last force the prompt for your EA credentials (assuming you hadn't told it to remember you last time.)
The important thing to know is that you cannot login with the email address you used to set up your EA account. It has to be one of the persona IDs (in fact, it might need to be the Master, of that I'm not sure.)
You don't have to have the account profile 100% completed, but I do believe you have to have it verified (the extra email auth.) If you didn't receive that... request the verification email again, then make sure to check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive within a minute or two.
Once you know you have a persona ID set, you can login with it and you should be good to go with online stuff.
I think the game only cares about you logging in with an EA account that has been tied to a Burnout CD-Key ... cause I can now log into our family computer under either Steam account, and we can log in under either EA account inside the game (now that they're both tied to Burnout CD-Keys) ... it just doesn't care anymore.
Weirdest mechanism I've ever seen... I hope they learned from this and implemented something better in Hot Pursuit, cause that's on my radar next to get.
Good luck!
@SkullArm
patch 1.1.0.0 is also available on the criterion-page.
it's the first link about the cars update.
http://www.criteriongames.com/packs/pc.php
If you already have Burnout Paradise The Ultimate Box on PC, and you're looking for the Cars update, you can get it here.
click one the "here"-link there (size 106 mb).
to redo a lost race, bring up the easy drive menu with numpad 6 (keyboard) or d-pad right (controller).
there should be a option to replay the last event.

DO this. Download EA Download Manager and register your game with your Steam CD key you got. It will now say that you own the game and you can download it directly through EA rather than Steam. Maybe this can resolve some of your problems.

well i has the same problem but i know the solution
go to http://www.criteriongames.com/login/login.php
login with you EA account
choose your persona ID
and the web will create your new driver license.
GO TO BURNOUT:
login with your persona id and your EA password and it will accept your login;)

Go to EA games, and register the game. Then go back to game, and log in using your persona(username) and EA password. If it says invalid, keep trying different personas.
