You could start by saying "I cheat."

Human beings, racing on their own power in Blur, do not win 80% of their races. It's just not possible. Permit me a crude demonstration.

I'm not saying everyone better than me is a hacker. I'm not even saying 60-80% of those better than me are hackers; my estimation of my talent is very deliberate: I'm on the lower end of the slope down, with more than a few players on the other end (including the 20-40% on the extreme fringe that don't hack) with clearly superior racing ability. I miss powerups a lot, and am bad at dodging them (except shunts) when fired from behind me, and I realize this costs me position every now and again.

That said, you can be the Jesus Christ of Blur from the moment you pick up the controller(!) but you'll still be subject to the same vagaries of gameplay that plague the rest of us. You just can't possibly win 80% of your races on your own power, sorry. This has been described at length elsewhere, but the gist of it is there will always be random setbacks you can't control. This doesn't happen to you. You never get barged/bolted out of a race past the first three lines of powerups, but believe it or not it does happen to people otherwise capable of running a competent race. You never get way out in the lead only to have it erased by everyone else picking up and using Shocks simultaneously. If it happened to you anywhere near often as it happens to me or anyone else who doesn't cheat shields when they need them, it would show in your stats.

Look on the leaderboards, there are more and more people just like myself starting to show up. The community of blur only recently started up and people with skill such as myself had to show up sooner or later. I'm consistently losing to Sli and he obviously don't cheat either. I admit I'm not the best at this game but I know for one thing I don't cheat!

Every race you gotta prepare for what's gonna happen ahead, not what's happening now. I almost know exactly when people are going to shock me so I always carry a shield for that moment and for shunts, that's what ECM and barges are for. But the thing that always keeps people like yourself from winning like the people with skills such as myself know when the right time to use a nitro is! I dunno how many times I've told this to people but there is a major difference between using a nitro as soon as you get it, and using a nitro right at the point where you slow down.

Focusing on where you slow down most on each track is the key to achieving a better average speed in the race, allowing you to win or at least catch up a lot more easily! I mess up quite a lot myself doing this, Crashing into things to get powerups, falling off of cliffs/edges or even getting hit by my own mines but I always know where the nitro's are on each track so I know how to plan my comeback.

I'm annoyed by these cheaters/hackers as well and I honestly can't wait for Bizzare Creations to do something about it! (If they ever do so...)

It's incredible the way they think about it: You avoid being hit by something = you are hacking. Just because some people actually use their brains while playing doesn't give you the right to call people hackers. Unless they're actually hacking, but they don't seem to notice that either.

What statistics are we talking about anyway? Hit ratio and wrecks? They're pretty normal, I would say even low due to the fact that he spends so much time in the lead. Top 3's and 1st place wins? Yeah those are pretty damn good but he's not the only one. We're pretty much equal.

No, a "good" win ratio is not impossible, but I refer you again to my crude graphs above. Winning 80% of your races in an environment as chaotic as Blur MP is not possible on your own power. Sorry, but nothing you can say will convince me that it is. Yeah, Yeah, you're smart and you have a strategy. So do lots of people.

And Foxy, try reading my posts and parsing the graphs/language as has been hitherto clearly deployed. I'm not saying people better than me are hackers, I'm saying there's an anomalous extremity of "talent" in Blur.

Arkanfel brings up a very valid point, which most of you are either incapable of seeing, or much to inbred to understand.

Winning is a statistical chance of occurring. You look at my stats, compared to most of the others in the top 10.

Davezor hacks, I've seen him spam infinite crap all over the place, so him defending someone else that hacks too wouldn't shock me one bit.

Hell I cannot watch sli_09 even race anymore, its pointless. Its join game, and wait to probably finish 2nd no matter what you do. Its the same with Gpro. Hacks, probably, skill, somewhat, I meant they did download the skills, they can't be all that stupid on the surface because of that.

Regardless, the game is busted, its been split open by so many illegitimate players, many more obvious than those that are being accused in here, and I've had to watch every attempt at closing the gap just come up hopeless. I can drift 15 nitro's on a map and never catch them, because they are so strategic of course.

Tonight sli and gpro were both in the same race with me. When gpro was fighting me for position #2 (Sli of course had #1 3 seconds into the race, as typical) he was bouncing all over my screen. Now, I've raced him with a lot, he doesn't do this unless he's not in first. Everyone knows that in 95/100 races, if you are in first and get even a somewhat substantial lead, its all about defense and just shielding and dodging, there's no more jockeying, no more position fighting, its just plain drive and finish the race. So, once first comes up, the stuttering stops.

I've seen many others do this. Some from the UK, and some that clearly hack as once they start bouncing around they fly by with nitro's and shields ablazing.

Its really caused a good majority of the player base to disappear. First week to two, there was 100-150 players online, at the same time there are now 16-25. People will only tolerate the crap so much, and I'm ready to join them in that pool. Have the leaderboard, it no more fun competing for it, as the last guy I had fun racing against seemed to have disappeared.

Its a shame, because the game itself is a blast. But the players that are up at the top, are going to stay there, even if there's a wipe of the player board to start things fresh for everyone (i.e. Rank 10 abusers) it won't solve the issue without bans, and that won't happen apparently. So those that have some sense of integrity will just fade away and leave the kiddies to fight over their "bandwidth issues".

Hahaha this is truly something, I just cannot get into my mind why are some of you so damn closed minded, why can't you just accept that some of us are truly good at the game? You said it yourself, most of the time once you get to 1st place it's pretty easy to stay there, well that's what we do! We battle through the pack and get 1st and that's it! Easy? No. Impossible? Of course not.

Yes I've seen him lag sometimes, but it's not nearly as bad as you make it look Please grow up, accept that there are people better than you and maybe try to see what these people are doing so you can become better at the game.

As you said, winning is a statistical chance of winning or losing. Very true. But the only way to have a better chance of winning is predicting your opponents and knowing the battlefield. I won't say I'm all skill as luck also plays a big role in each race but cheating is one thing I am against!

I'd like to know EXACTLY how we are cheating? HOW? we have never used trainers as we obviously never had unlimited powerups of any kind. I know that I'm very good and I can't even beat Sli_09 myself but I can manage to keep up with him in most of the races I'm with him and If luck looks my way, I can beat him!

The only thing that seems to stop me from beating Sli are his bolts, they are very nasty as he is a great aim with them and miraculously hitting me just when I'm about to take him or when I'm most vulnerable. His defensive maneuvers have even made me come 3rd or worse in some races, Obviously making me very frustrated but It's a good thing to have a great challenge, I wouldn't want to be consistently destroying everyone and have nobody to compete/compare with...

About the lag, I can't seem to help it at all. I have just downloaded an update for my display driver though and now my game is running a lot smoother but not absolutely perfect. I used to have times where my game would freeze in the middle of a race for about 2-5 seconds and then it goes again, causing me to stay still during that race until my game unfreezes, but that doesn't seem to happen anymore. (and I hope it stays that way)

I enjoy this game a lot and I really don't want to see it go down. I'm actually quite passionate about this game, All I wanna do is play it as much as I can due to how much I love it! As soon as I'm home from work, I get on blur as soon as possible. And on the weekends when I wake up, I'm straight onto blur!

As I was one of the first who was a bit too quick to call people cheaters, I wanna add something to this thread (which I already said in lots of others). While I still think lag/packet loss gives you a slight advantage (people would have to shoot where they ANTICIPATE you are, not where they see you - an impossible deed for many), it's not that what makes those ppl win all the time. I acknowledge it is skill. I didn't believe it at first (givin more credit to the network disturbance than there is to give), but as I improved myself, I saw how wrong I was. In races where gpro or sli arent there, I do the same.

Stay passive in the beginning. You know people ram. You know that guy that chooses Nemesis on Money Run is exactly and only going for his ramming advantage, because - as we all know - once you're in the lead, you stay there unless you're a monkey.
So how do you ALWAYS get in the lead/top 3. It's fairly easy once you figured it out. The most crucial thing is knowing the track. Powerups are always on the same lines (permutated maybe, but easy to anticipate). Don't fire any powerup unless you have three or it is ABSOLUTELY necessary for your own DEFENSE - there's no point in being aggressive in the beginning. The most important powerups aren't shunts and bolts in the beginning, it's shields and nitros. I agree with Arkanfel about the point that theres too much randomness to account for - but whenever that happens to me lately, I come to the conclusion "if I would've grabbed that shield on the last line, I might've survived this easily". Analysing my recent losses (being out of top 3 is becoming VERY rare for me) it's mostly bad knowledge of the track/powerup positions that make me grab e.g. a repair instead of that CRUCIAL nitro (don't miss a nitro. seriously. don't. ever. the most overpowered powerup in this game! Best powerup combo to hold: 2 nitros, 1 shield, or even 3 nitros). I begin to learn where on the track the nitros are most crucial. In 99% of the cases using a nitro on a straight or even just after you picked it up is a total waste - you might've aswell dropped it. But by using nitros in the RIGHT place AND TIME, I pulled those 30 second leads on 2nd easily (making the lobby empty after the race, I'm still waiting on the hacker post on me, but I guess I'm not consistent enough).
This makes me think. IF someone indeed memorized all those track, and can get even those nitros most players won't even notice in the first place (yes, there are those, look closely, some are REALLY hard to get), he might really pull it off most of the time. Give me 3 nitros more than the next player and I'm looooong gone.
Leaves the thing about not getting hit/stopped by others. Well, it's really a lot about anticipation. If you just passed a p'up line with bolt, shunt, mine and shock in it (and NO nitro, I'd call it an aggressive line), you can anticipate at least 3 of those coming at you (in a 10 player race) once the others passed that line - most stacked attacks DON'T come out of the blue. A line that holds a nitro I'd call a passive line, as most of the players would go for the nitro, so there's less aggression to fear for you.
To not make this a novel: There IS a big gap in skill, a HUGE one even. The average player cannot grasp that until you have pulled it off yourself. It's cars on high speed, they're more predictable than you might think (a car cannot do a 180° turn like a shooter player could for an extreme example). I give the hopping (lag) advantage, which makes you a target ppl dont want to "waste" powerups on - but guys, just try it, you can still hit them by anticipating their path. Their car might be visually hopping, in "reality" it IS NOT. Those hops are nothing they can do anything about - it's poor netcode on a poor connection (which makes me think is the reason why they decided at first to not release the game in "exotic regions" like Australia or Europe (yeah, thats american arrogance)), thanks to Bizarre and blur's consoleritis.

Ah, I'm glad you finally realized that most stuff is indeed avoidable, you just need to be very, VERY aware of what's going on around you. And yes it happens to me as well, the constant "if I had done after the bolts instead.." "if only I had waited for that shield to respawn..."

This is what we've been going on about since the beginning, the average player is oblivious of all the little strategies and advantages you can achieve when you wait for the perfect moment, most people use nitros as soon as they grab them, same goes for pretty much any power up. And like you said, once you get a few wins and see what works and what doesn't you realize that there's much more to this game than simply grabbing and firing stuff.

I still disagree with that "you gotta lead the shots to hit them" stuff, I mean, obviously you gotta lead with the bolts, as they're not hitscan, but putting it simply, if you hit someone on your screen, you WILL hit them. It happens to me all the time, you can fire a bolt and it seems like it doesn't hit at first, but after a few milliseconds it registers.

I'll provide some verbal assistance, as the screencaps might be out of place cronologically speaking of course.

All these caps were taken from a video I recorded on 6/13. I never bothered to post it, as I didn't wanna have to convert a 3.6GB video, cut it, blah blah blah, if you really care, I'll find a way to share it.

Anyway, back to the screencaps. We have Dave right behind me in the early part of the race, then magically shunts start flying at me...1..2..3..4, in one of the caps you can see I evaded shunt 3 times, and in the mirror you can count at least 3 more shunts. Now, that alone doesn't sound convincing, so Dave wrecks me, so he labels those shunts clearly as his own. All 9-10 that he fired at that point I imagine, I lost count after I started getting shunted in the air and into the wall.

Later on, I catch back up to Dave, because when you're a cheating baddie, you apparently sometimes just screw up and run into walls with your infinite nitro's. I come around the corner and see Dave lobbing Shunts at the player ahead of him. Another 4-5 fly out, and with no nitro's on the playing surface where he was, there is no possible way he could fire that many shunts, and still have a nitro...or two...or 3. You can see the green glow it provides when you nitro in 1-2-3 consecutive screenshots, all occurred right after he shunted. There's also a few parts where he fired about 15-20 bolts at a time, but I didn't bother with that so much as the shunts + nitro was the easy ones to see in the caps, they show up better.

At the end of the race, Dave had 14 Iron Fist shunt hits, it gave him a game award for his uber skills. 14 Shunts hits, on a track with probably 5 shunts per lap, 15 shunts total, and somehow Dave managed to pick up all of them and fire them all rapidly, at least on 2 occassions, before the 3rd lap was even upon us. So, Dave is so skillful he makes shunts just appear on the map with his awesomeness.

Now, care to explain yourself? Oh, wait, thats right, its my lag, or your superior skills, or...how about we just call a spade a spade, you gtfo and go run home with your tail between your legs.

It might provoke more drama but actual physical evidence would be better then just pointing a finger and saying "THIS GUY CHEATS!" even though majority of the other players might already know it.

Video's or Multiple screencaps would be the most effective procedure of doing so but it still won't stop them from joining a game and just ruining it for everyone.

berate me as you will, but i simply got tired of reading threads about how easy to hack it is and how everyone is a hacker! so i figured let's give it a whirl, get some hax and see how long it would take one of you guys to actually come up with some proof, instead of just making a thread whining about it! took quite a while and some real coaxing too...

How the hell am I a cheater? Do you just call cheater at everyone who is better than you at this game? Yes I saw your "screen shots" but, that proved nothing,I only saw shunts in your rear view. That happens in any game. Stop crying foul, and learn to play.

Yes I'm well aware of this but this one i posted is the most common one that people are using. And as for the proof I didn't have fraps going at the time and I didn't feel like wasting my time looking for you to recored your cheating... Yes, actually I did play with TauxiC before and he was playing clean, but I completely destroyed him every single time and he just couldn't win so I guess he got really butt hurt and started using hacks to feel like he is actually good.

I agree with Omatre on this one. t0adphr0g is 100% a cheater and a hacker. I was racing with him and when he was in first he was shooting infinite bolts behind him. My buddy was also racing with me and he can vouch for it as well.

Just encountered the TauxiC guy, and he was indeed spamming infinite powerups. When he was not far behind me, I saw/heard him shoot off about 3 or 4 barges before shooting 3 shunts right at me, then later down a straightaway there was a straight line of bolts coming right at me. I tried to get a screenshot, but I think I hit the wrong key.

what is the button to take screenshots in this game and where are they saved?

EDIT: After leaving and going to a new game (unfortunately, all alone) guess who shows up none other than the hacker I just mentioned. I decided to continue with the race to try to catch him in the act. It was obvious that he was cheating, though he was doing his best to hide it well. The second race he made it more obvious, using shields over and over and racing by me at incredible speeds near the final lap.

I don't have any sort of video recording device for my game, so the best I have to do is look for another long row of bolts or tons of mines to try to get a screencap.

Just played against him tonight as well and i can confirm that he hacks i was in first about 20-30 seconds ahead of the next car and he came flying up to first fired off a bunch of shunts then nitroed off about 5-6 times gets distance on me slows down and spams a crap load of bolts until i wreaked then he nitroed off again

I'll give you an additional hint at who's cheating. you are onto something with the infinite repairs bit, but the trainers ive seen also usually have an "add 10k on-track-fans" button. keep an eye out for abnormally high fans and youve got yourself a good idea

well, Davez0r actually did admit to using cheats, however I think that was mainly to try to make a point not to accuse people of hacks unless they get actual proof of them hacking (which they did). Whether he is still using them or not, I am unsure.

Codemasters has been developing for the PC for years and they can not stop trainers from messing with GRID and they have release 3 patches for GRID.

So I don't see how you can expect Bizarre to have better luck stopping trainers from changing the game, when Blur is loaded into memory.

Yeah, it's actually funny to watch sometimes. Cheaters like to spam shunts, but with ECM scrambling on most maps you can still stay ahead of them and backfire powerups to block them. I don't really understand why they bother with bolts and shunts when they're behind--if I cheated, I'm pretty sure I'd only ever spawn nitros and shields. Why bother with anything else?

Yeah, I think he's one of those guys who started legit but isn't anymore. In a match with 5 or 6 racers (where neither him nor I picked up a shock), I saw 6 or 7 shocks come down back to back right as I was jumping out that tunnel and going down that big hill. I dodged them and kept my lead until the straightaway, where he nosed ahead in the cave where the shield is, right before the home stretch leading into that 90 degree turn.

The jury's still out on Leonar though. It could just be that he's getting better, I guess. I haven't seen anything from him that I could definitely attribute to cheating, as it may have been people behind him firing ahead.

well he started the race about 100 yards in front of everyone else, which I've never seen before. when I passed him his car started shaking and shot right back ahead but he didnt have any nitros. it wasn't like the skips I sometimes see from laggers (and as I understand I've done myself, when my brother has a torrent running) where you bounce all over the track, but just this weird sort of epileptic shaking that lasted just long enough for him to pass me. I didn't get the chance to see anything other than that, as I quit instantly after that maneuver. that + the 100 yard start was about all I needed to see to rage on the spot.

Nope. I was just in a lobby he joined at the last second, so he couldn't possibly have been the host. He always starts way ahead of everyone else too. Something's definitely going on with this guy, but I'm still kind of puzzled because I don't think it can possibly be a trainer.

Actually it's not as bad as it looks in this thread, not anymore at least. I guess most of the cheaters got tired of doing it because lately there are way less than before, so reinstalling might be worth a try.

Speedjunkie and JamaicanVoodoo are real good players and together we are fighting against cheaters by capturing them in videos to proof it to others, and hopefully the devs will do something against them. :-/
And I can assure you, both are definitely not cheating.
The good players mostly go for shield/nitro and mines to block shields/nitro for the other good players.
Maybe you come and visit the forum and ask them for some help. Seems like you could use it (no offense!). But there are some useful hints for every map and powerup and even good players might get to know something useful. Maybe you want a gameplay video of Speedjunky?

I just got out of a few races playing with a hacker named GABRIEL-RO (rank 50) that was continuously shooting bolts and shunts during the entire races. At the awards screen it actually showed him getting a total of 54 bolt hits in a 3-minute race. I didn't record any video but I probably should have. He's a pretty bad player and I've actually beat him 2-3 times regardless of him wrecking everyone on the track twice. From full health I was taken out in about 2-3 seconds. So spread the word or whatever, but watch out for
