I was hoping the same with Steam and Team Fortress 2. The improvements I was hoping for, which had been reported to the developers, never arrived.

Case in point: copy+paste in steam chat, importing sprays, and being able to play (singleplayer) in offline mode with an internet connection.

Lets be honest, it was terrible. Everyone hated steam to death. But as time passed, its kinks were worked out. Steam for OSX is a month old. The progress it is making is way quicker than the initial Windows Steam was.

I am completely confident that over time, we are going to see some great improvements, especially with the HUGE number of people who have already started to use steam on mac. What is it already? 9%? Thats freakin huge.

Everyday, I was like:
Please no server overload, unable to update today!
Then,
Hell no! Not again!
Followed by deleteing clientregistry.blob
Repeating again and again.
Finally! Yeah! Steam is running!
Noooo! Game update!!!

The steam for mac is much better,
Developing faster.
But I think they should call this a open beta.
Since it is so buggy and incomplete.
Anyway. It's nice to have it.

To be fair, "1.0" is often a nice way of saying "open beta" ;) (despite what others may say, the X.0 versions are almost always still sort of a testing release, caveat emptor, yes even including their precious MacOS (hell, especially their precious MacOSX, where 10.0 and 10.1 were retconned as ongoing betas and 10.2 was free :p ), and all that, which is why Adobe apps become morasses of bugs, they only do x.0 releases ;) )

I remember getting steam when it was in beta...yeah it sucked. O well time will tell about osx... lets just hope its not valve time o.O

Steam Client for Osx is still brand new
and still......
Does some nice CPU hogging
Is easier to force quit that wait 20 minutes
Just doesn't "feel" right. Not really native, and is written in C++.
Games associated are in trouble too.

But hey, a month from now I'm sure things will be much better.
