Fear 1 grenades

I'm playing through FEAR 1 for the first time and I just picked up 2 grenades, and the little message that says to press G to throw them.

I press G and... nothing happens. I checked in the controls options and G is still set to throw grenades. Is this some kind of glitch or is there something I'm missing?

You have to select the type of grenades first then "g" will throw them. I think "4" changes the types. You may have for example picked up say frag but the grenades are set to emp and since you say don't have any emp at the moment, it can't throw them.
