I've had a crash where the screen turns white or completely exits out of the game. I went through everything drivers, anti-virus exceptions, bios updates, you name it i did it. Until my friend said what you have is a heat issue i'm like nah no its not. So i downloaded Asus Smart Doctor which is my nvidia 470's brand and looked and i was overheating in game. I adjusted Manually my fan settings in this program and no more crashes. I was getting up to 105c and the card was crashing. Reason this is happening the nvidia drivers are not engaging the fan speeds like they are supposed too i hope this helps out some people. Also this happens with some ATI cards i hope this solves some issues guys.

well do u have the same card? Also i set it to full power to take advantage of the card. and just looked up it isn't a problem for this thing to be at full load and at 97c so topping out around 75c or 85c for that matter is wonderful.

The game is more demanding on the CPU then the card.

Sounds like a Fermi issue. Those things are furnaces.

46-50 degrees in full load? Yeah right. There is a difference between idle and full load. Please check your facts before you post.

Guru3d: Idle temps are roughly 60 Degrees C, yet when the GPU was fully utilized & stressed it reached 88 Degrees C quite fast. That's definitely a lot, I do hope to see some board-partners going for 3rd party cooling, as that number definitely can go down. Though for the GPU itself, this heat level is not an issue. In fact a GPU can reach 120 Degrees C before the fuses blow..

Tomshardware: While not as hot as the record-setting Radeon HD 4850, the HD 4870 was still rather hot at idle, with a GPU temperature reading of 70°C.

Not even my sapphire toxic 5850 with the vapor-x cooler go under 65 c @ full load. And the vapor cooler is the best cooler on the market (Not including 3rd party coolers)

That sounds weird. I have an EVGA 470 GTX and I have never had heat issues. Are you sure you were using the latest drivers? I seem to remember this fan problem being an issue with the drivers a year or so ago. Oftentimes those drivers they give you on the disc that comes with the card are very out of date.

Sounds like you are running your GPU(s) in some overclocked state. It would be better to turn down the overclocking than increasing the fan speeds. I don't think you need extreme overclocking to run this game with any of the 5000 series ATI or 200 or Fermi NVidias....

I like when everyone knows what there talking about. Anyway no this card is stock and is not overclocked. Yes i have the latest drivers. The issue is and has been around since fermi has been out is. That the drivers have a compatibility problem with windows 7 64-bit and doesn't engage the fan speeds to coincide with the GPU temps. The card locks out at 105c and kills the game. This is a problem with fermi's at the moment.

I am running Asus Smart Doctor to control the fan speeds. This is also all over nvidia forum boards. I run under load again around 72c-75c i idle around 43c-45c its pretty stable when it comes to that.

Again it is a problem with the "new" and "beta" drivers

"also"
whoever said there video card runs at 40c underload is stupid. I've been building computers probably since you were sucking your thumb.

my game crashes while in multiplayer. i've no idea why...

specs:
GPU: 2X GTX480
CPU: core i7 extreme, overclocked to 4.13GHZ
RAM: 12 GB 1600MHz DDR3
HDD: 600 GB velociraptor

network card: killer xeno pro

so maybe it's the network card.

anyway singleplayer goes perfect.

oh and, it's not a laptop. i just bought a new computer.(i need to change my name...)
