If you like medieval games and you are also into economy life simulating games give it a try. Its really a unique gameplay experience.

Look for a Let's play Guild 2 on youtube. There is a guy who basically plays the game from start till who knows? He has over like 50 videos of it after sitting for 3 hours watching it like a movie I decided to purchase it.

I was really interested in the pirate`s part, but after reading the 1up review (http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3161488), specially this part:
"Quips about ships
In fact, the entire expansion feels a little superfluous, so if you've read this far hoping I'll say Pirates somehow improve things, brace up, because they're just the original's Rogues with wenches (seduce city guards) and a few plunderous ships. Don't mistake "plunder" for tactical, and dash any hopes you might be harboring about nautical argot like "jib" or "sail type" or "wind speed," because pirating's as simple as pulling alongside your target, clicking "attack ship," and letting rip. Ships are purchased in a few unremarkable flavors (capacity, strength) and can pummel either buildings or other enemy vessels, but they're still just means to an end, i.e. stuff your coffers, then sow your seed and pack the city council with kith and kin."
it seems to me that the pirate part is too simplistic...

Well, Pirates of the European seas is still a Guild II title. The main focus is on making your money, creating your life & dinasty, gaining power, trading goods. It is no pirates simulation where the main focus is just being a pirate. The addon giving you new professions, tasks, possibilities ... but it remains a life time/trading simulation :)

Ok, fair enough. :) But one day publisher/developer might consider extending the pirate`s expansion to more like a pirate simulation, or make a stand-alone pirate simulation. It would attract customers like me and others. Part of a pirate game is already there. :)

I really enjoyed guild 2/pirates; I think the game was a bit of a sleeper and I'm glad to see it released finally on steam.
I think for how long the game has been out, $15/ea. $25/both might be a bit more than I think reasonable but the sale price of $12.50 for both isn't bad at all.
I enjoyed playing a family of thieves and robbing other families on the roads, and attacking/capturing their holdings. Of course, a few of the members of my family were put into jail, but it was all for "the family".

@gamer_x
You are right about that and we will consider it for a possible Guild 3.
Stay tuned for even more new Guild features with the upcoming expansion pack Renaissance!

I'm glad to hear that there is a new Guild game coming out. I've only played the Guild II so I might get the bundle here on steam, because I also had a lot of fun with a family of thieves. It was hilarious when the wife was beheaded!

thatīs awesome, two JoWood employes on the Steam forums and none on the official JoWood site.
will Renaissance be like Venice or will it be bugfree?
(just kidding)

Well, lets just not speak about Venice. It was not the best game at all (hardly :P ). Renaissance is developed from a team of original developern and community member, not Trine any more. It will offer lots of new professions and possibilities and it will be a satisfying end of the Guild II series! For the community, for all of our fans out there!

Whoa! I never knew there is a Guild series before the Steam debute, but I bought the bundle, and now this new info about a renaissance-era expansion, I'm definitely sold! :)

Care to enlighten us on why you sell the Guild 2 bundle if the Pirate expansion includes the main game?

There's a post on this forum about that. Another user tested it: you only need the "Pirates" expansion. It's a stand-alone.

Pirate's Gold would be the game you're looking for then. Late 80's - early 90's title. Graet game, especially the Genesis version.

Speaking of other games.. I love Guild 2 to be honest, one of the most fetching games (if not the buggiest as well.) I have played, there is one game similar to it that I like more..
So, without further ado..
What's the odds of getting Europe 1400 Gold on steam?
