XNA not installing

Every time I try to start up Plain Sight, it begins installing XNA 3.1. In the middle of this installation, my whole computer freezes and must be restarted. I then tried to install XNA straight from microsoft, but had the same problem. However, when I tried to install it manually, I saw that it was freezing when it tries to isntall directx 9.0c runtime components. I have successfully installed directx 9.0c, so I do not know what the problem is. Any suggestions?

You yourself said that this problem happens even when you install it seperately. Therefore, it is not a Plain Sight problem, so you should contact Microsoft or look through their database for help. Or use Google.

Still, some stuff:
1. Make sure you don't have any previous version of XNA installed.
2. If that doesn't help, try to remove and then reinstall DirectX, or to remove it and let the XNA setup install it.
