View Full Version : Did they sneakily change the deal?

Maybe it's just me going insane, but this morning I went on Steam and the deal for the Overlord complete pack was -85% off the usual price - awesome.
I was pressed for time and so added it to cart and went to purchase in the evening.
In the evening, the price has gone from £3.75 up to £8 and suddenly the deal is -66%.
If they changed it over the course of a day after originally stating -85% off, that strikes me as pretty lame and underhanded.
I bought the pack nonetheless as I still feel the deal is reasonable, but even so I'm annoyed that had I bought it in the morning I would have saved more money.
It just seems unfair to me to change a "summer deal" before a day is even up, but meh...
Anyone else notice this?

No, not you going insane :)
During this summer sale, steam has this huge list of games that is on sale, but also a select few that are on uber sale. These select few change every 24 hours, so that's why the price changed.
Tough luck, mate. At least the pack is still cheap, right? :)

It was a daily deal. Be glad it isn't back to full price.

I missed it for 5 minutes...
One day to find the offer and to take a decision isn't enough :(

Well now you know what a daily deal is on Steam. Wasn't it only like 4 dollars? Did you really need time to decide on that? Seems like if you were interested in the game even a little bit you would have gotten it since that is nearly free.

Actually, since "Steam time" doesn't exactly correspond to my country's timezone it would appear that I had considerably less than a "day" to make the purchase.
The reason I delayed wasn't due to hesitation either, more due to the fact that I generally have stuff to do in the mornings other than enter my payment details on Steam (which I keep erased for security reasons)...
Either way, I've bought other "daily" deals before and they haven't changed nearly as quickly as this one, which is why I made the post in the first place.

It's not like steam was intentionally trying to rip you off, they had a daily deal and you hesitated and missed out. Better luck next time

Tell me about it.
I got the pack for £3.75, but later, I added Killing floor to my cart at £3.75, then looked at some other games and Youtube video reviews. Time runs out and when I refresh my cart it's at £15, but it was slashed to £7.50 a few hours later. I bought it at that.
They don't really make it clear that it's part of the timed deal either. You have to check the front page.
I sent support a ticket because it was in my cart at £3.75, and I suggested they have a grace period when something is added to your cart, so the price is static for 30 minutes.

Not if you're finding games by looking through the genre searches etc.
