I bought the pack of this game and when I completed the download, the game does not start.
I tried start Overlord and Raising Hell.
I have Windows 7 and all drivers are updated.

If I can not play, I will want a refund.

I've came across a rather interesting issue with this game. and I don't know it might be the cause of your issues as well. I've also found a fix for it.

For some unknown reason the game doesn't like it if you have an LCD monitor and within your display settings you have it set to use your monitor's built in scaling. try changing to the scaling provided by your graphics card if at all possible.

With Nvidia drivers use the following procedure.

1. Select Control panel from the start menu
2. Double click on the Nvidia Control Panel (You might have to use Classic View to see it)
3. From the Nvidia Control panel Select Adjust Desktop Size and Position from the Dispay Catigory in the left
4. Make sure Use Nvidia Scaling is selected, then click apply.

Hopefully that should get the game up and running for you

This Applies to BOTH Overlord and Overlord II

I am getting the same problem, the above does not help. The launch dialog fades and the game does not launch.
Running the game exe directly brings up a missing binkw32.dll fault. Is the steam version of this game not compatable with win7 64bit?

Here is something else that you might want to consider trying. Mind you I don't know how it effects the game overall. but you can remove the videos from the game by going to

\Program Files x86\Steam\Steamapps\common\Overlord 64-bit System
\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\common\overload on 32-bit system

from there rename the VIDEO folder to something else. this might allow the game to start properly, I know I had to use this technique to get another game to run on Vista 64. so give that method a try and see if it gets the game working for you. This method should also work for overlord II as well, just go to the Overlord ii folder and rename the video folder the same way as mentioned above

if you would still like to see what the movies are in the game. you can download an stand alone video player from http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm

One other thing you might want to try installing is the Vista Codec pack, which can be downloaded from: http://shark007.net/vistacodecpackage.html

and if I do have the paths messed up, I do apologize in advance.

I had the same problem, so this may help you. Just simply, restart your computer, and see if it starts downloading a patch. The patch is unspecified, and about 90 mbs, but once it finished downloading, it let me play the game fine.

I had problems as well and it never did start for me (win7 64bit ultimate) so I decided to try a no-cd crack and it worked like a charm o.O kinda strange that original game doesnt start at all. Maybe codemasters indian workers don't give a poop about their older games... :/

to fix this problem you just have to install the original game, that is how i fixed it.

so install both Overlord, and overlord:raising hell (but only play rasing hell, its the same game with additional zones)

so umm download again and install again from steam? I installed first overlord then rising hell and neither didn't start from original exe. and game version is 1.4 which is the latest version :(

How stupid is it that you can choose to install Raising Hell but it won't work unless you also install the original Overlord?

OL 2 runs fine on Win7 64. I don't however have OL 1 installed on the PC since I've played that one on the 360 already. I am therefore installing OL 1 on my PC to check it out and will see if I have any problems with it.

Win7 64
Phenom 9600 quad 2.3 Ghz
4 GB ram
8800GT 512 MB

EDIT:
Installed and played OL1 for 1/2 hour-40 minutes and it played fine stock. Downloading/Installing Raising Hell and will check it also.

EDIT 2:
Raising Hell is playing fine.

The only thing I can suggest are the usual. Verifying game cache, making sure OS and drivers are up to date, checking to insure that DEP/anti-virus or firewall aren't blocking the game exe. Grant exceptions if needed but don't turn them off completely. If none of this works contact support because it's not a Win7 64 problem. Sorry.

i had the same problem and i found the solution; go to your steam library and right mouse click on overlord II, choose properties, then make sure the update option is on "always keep this game up to date' go on to local files (in the properties menu) and press 'verify integrity of game cache' the program will then check the files and will say that there are some missing files click on close and steam will automaticly redownload those files and then the game runs smoothly.

i think the fault in the system will be recovered or updated but untill then this worked for me. i hope it helped

Bought the bundle for the Halloween sale and had the same problem.
Win7 64bit

I "Verify Integrity of Game Cache..." on both Overlord and Rising Hell. Missing files where downloaded and now it works just fine.
