Just wondering since no matter if I play it with the high detail checked or not it always seems to runs at the same framerate.

I believe the engine is hard coded at 30 FPS. Was a huge gripe with customers when the game first released. :(
Hope they fix it, eventually..

Doesn't need to be fixed. Game plays fine at 30fps.

I agree, it does play fine the way it is...but 60fps is always better.
But I dont think they coudl get the physics aniamtions to run at 60fps (at least definitley not on the consoles) otherwise you would have soemthing that was like Bioshock where you could be playing at 60fps but the death animations of the splicers were always 30fps, so it looked weird when they died.

Quite ironic if that's the real reason. When the game was initially released and there was no PC version, I recall reading a post where the devs stated the reason for this was "a PC isn't powerful enough to handle this game" or something similar.
Today, a PC runs it better than any current generation console can and could possibly run it even better had the devs bothered to address these sort of issues.
This has always been the case with Consoles vs PC as PCs are continuously evolving whereas consoles are generally "locked in" during their life cycle.

Yeah, whenever someone says something like that, they're either underestimating the PC or have no actual knowledge of how powerful PC can be. Just because they're computers can't run it, doesn't mean other people's can't. :D

30 FPS makes my eyes bleed.

Gah, i HATED that.. killed the mood of the game when you saw a splicers body all clunky

I'd like to see the framerate unlocked.
Saw it in Transformers: War for Cybertron as a recent example.
Unlocking the 30 fps limit made quite a change.
Wonder if there is a possibility to be done here as well.

I really need a FPS unlocker in order to start playing this game.
After the new transformers game's 30 fps cap was removed, many people in the "The human eye cannot see more than 30 fps." camp couldn't believe how much of a difference uncapping it made.
