Game Crashing

So i was able to download the game and install it. But when i actually try to play the game it crashes before the first level is even loaded. Im on a Windows 7 64bit has anyone else had this problem and found a way to fix it?

If your's goes to the first loading screen, sits there a bit, then crashes with a, "Witcher has stopped working" blah blah blah message, then I have the same problem. I've had to wait 2 DAYS for this to download, and now I can't even play it!

right click the game in your library, then click "properties", then click the "local files" tab, and click "verify integrity of game cache"

I'm having the exact same problem, Windows 7 64-bit.

Try to start a new game, then immediately after the very first loading screen, the game crashes. I have the option to debug it with VS2005 but that doesn't help.

Another note: opening the Steam interface with Shift+Tab with the game open (ie, in the main menu) and then closing it causes the game to lose the mouse cursor, and you're forced to shut down the game (via Alt-F4 or from the task bar).

All I can tell you is that it's NOT a Win7 issue. I have two Win7x64 machines: one desktop (AMD X3 3GHz, 4GB DDR3, ATI 4850, Turtle Beach SRM) and one laptop (HP dv2z, AMD Turion Neo X2 1.6GHz, ATI 3410). Neither have any issues running this game (except that the laptop frame rate slows on cut scenes, but that's expected... I was surprised that it's even playable).

note: I posted my above reply while I was at work. I was having problems with the game yesterday evening.

Last night before I went to bed, Steam started downloading an update for the game. I just now tried it, and the game has not crashed yet and appears to be working properly now.

I had a couple crashes two days ago, none last night. I learned to save save save.
