View Full Version : Bought Complete - do I need to install all 4 games?

Hey there,

just bought the Complete Edition. But the distribution seems to be a tad bit different from my retail version. It is sufficient to just install Colonization and Beyond the Sword or do I need to install Civ4 and Warlords too?

Thanks,
Voegelchen

You can install any one of them individually. Each one is a mod that adds to the game, but contains the game. All you need for most of the content, is Beyond the Sword. You will not have some of the scenarios from warlords, but will have everything else.

Colonization is a separate game that uses the Civ 4 engine. It is about Europe colonizing the Americas, and plays a bit different.

So by just installing Beyond the Sword, Warlords gets installed as well?

Because in my library I only have Colonization and BtS, nothing else is there (I bought Complete Pack btw).

i've got all of them in my library but i don't really know what to install :). So far i've installed Civ IV, Colonization and Warlords, BtS is downloading. Can someone explain if they're all different games or something?

Hmm, that's weird. Maybe I should contact Steam support.

And I would just install all of them to be sure?

EDIT: Never mind, I restarted yet again (I did once) and it all popped up.

Maybe you should contact support because what i can tell you for sure is that all of them (civ iv, colonization, warlords, bts) appear in my library. In fact they appear duplicated, but that's got something to do with the mac version so nevermind. You should have all of the games i listed in your library.

EDIT: yay you already fixed it :DD

To make sure I'mm understanding this right:
Just bought civ 4 complete. As far as just playing full campaigns and ignoring scenarios, downloading BtS will include the warlords content, correct?

I am also curious for this.

I installed BTS and the game works fine, but what am i missing if i dont install the original civ 4, or warlords... neither are installed.

If all i am missing is some scenerios that is fine, i dont play them usually anyway. But the warlords expansion says it is 2gig download.... there must be more there???

if they werent such big downloads (i have a cap) i would just install, but i dont want to if unneeded.

I hadn't realized you could see the manuals through steam. After checking it out it seems that BtS does have all the warlords content with minor balance changes to some of it.

Steam giving you all three is just so you can play the game with/without whatever content you want, but BtS has everything.

isnt that odd then that steam installs a completely new game. you would think steam would see that you have civ 4 bts... and if you choose to install warlords/original it would only install whatever is different. warlords is 2gigs and original is over 1gig.... of what???? lol
